I needed a new grill and grabbed this one today. Surprised how good it is for the price. The assembly instructions are a pain and I thought the hardware was missing until I found the blister pack hidden between the shelf plates that were at the bottom of the bundle inside the firebox. Only a minor issue though, because the grill works great. Puts out some serious heat. It heated to 350 in about a minute.

Even though the assembly was a bit of a pain, I wouldn't get an assembled one from Lowes. My store had about half of them pre-assembled and they looked like they have been sitting outside in the elements for months.

I got one for free it's about 6 years old the grates are rusty besides that it's great. Let me know what paint you end up buying. Are you planning on painting the outside only?
I just get the rustoleum hi-temp from home depot, and paint the outside of the grillbox and frame. The inside and the grates you can scrape them clean and season them (apply oil and bake it on, repeat 2-3x). If your grates are rusty I'd hit them with a wire wheel first.

I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago for $199 from big lots and I've been happy with it. I couldn't find anything better unless I spent $350 or more.

Nice. Was given one of these about six years ago kept it outside uncovered after mice ate thru my cover. Replaced a couple burners and tubes and igniter last year. Finally rusting out. If I get five years for less than 200 (and Lowe's let me select pro assembly for free) I think it's a better deal than a Weber or mammoth for something pushing a grand.
Man the assembly was great. Nice to have it ready to go just unplug the old one and plug this in. Looks good so far will see how it heats up

Char Broil are pretty much disposable propane grills. Expect to get a few years out of it at best.

Honestly, if you don't want to spend a lot, I would look to the Expert Grills at Walmart. They're cheap but they'll last you slightly longer.

Here's the equivalent at Walmart. Roughly the same price: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Expert.../185942448

Yeah pretty sure you don't want to paint anything in contact w food or even the inside of the shell. There for sure would be some VOCs cooking off.

Yea unfortunately the grates and the inside of the top covers are where it rusted. I cleaned the grates and get it that it's common. But the inside top of the cover also has rust and I am not sure what to do

Don't clean the grates until right before you plan to use it again. If you burn and scrape all the oils off then leave it, you're exposing the bare metal so it can rust

Bought one of these at lowes for about $159 about 8 years ago. Igniter just died late last summer. Mine sits out all year round in the northeast. Have replaced the 4 burner plates twice.for about $15 each time.

Mine for the money is great. Friend bought some fancy model the same day for over $400 and his died. Even with a cover.in the northeast winter out doors they all will rust.

Might go tomorrow before sale ends to finally replace mine. Hope it fits assembled in my suv.

I have this and been using it for 5 yrs now. It's not a bad grill and starting to rust internally after his time. Biggest setback is I can only truly sear meat at the front with the lid down. Anything not on the front row will take forever to cook. Easy to move/clean. If I replace the rusting internal pieces I could get another 10 yrs out of it.

This is a good grill at a good price. Have had it for about 6 years with normal usage. The grill does get hot quick, too. If you are not handy, you should get the assembly option. Other recommendations: use grill mats to lessen cleaning/preserve grill grates longer; and, use a good grill cover to protect against the elements as best you can.

A bunch of reviews about it catching on fire.
Yeah man. That's a pretty critical step to get it to start cooking something.

AGREED! My same Walmart grilled lasted for almost 8 years (covered) and only needed to replace the grates and rewrap the drip tray with aluminum. I just bought this Lowes Charbroil but I can tell the quality is worse and it doesn't get as hot. I probably should have bought the Walmart grill again since it is roughly the same price ($177).
