I'm not aware of any LG models that are not a disaster-in-waiting. However, the reviews on Lowes are glowing, so what do I know?!

My LG and my in-law's LG purchased one year apart. Both had compressor issue and was fixed under their unadvertised extended warranty. The replacement broke 1.5 to 2 years later. Total years of ownership before ending up in the dumpster was 4 years for my inlaw and 6 years for mine. We both replaced those LG with other brands. My inlaw went with Samsung, I went with Kitchenaid. I honestly would stay away from LG refrigerator but who knows if they fixed their compressor issue. I expect refrigerator to last at least 10 years.

Supposedly the new models use a new compressor design. Just what I've read from similar threads here. I'd research further before purchasing this particular one though 👍🏼

Check the consumer report. I don't trust most reviews nowadays.

So far so good but it's too early to tell since it's only 2 years and 3 months old.

I think the problem with most website reviews is that they are written (are encouraged to be written) within a week or two of purchase: the honeymoon period. I'm guessing that relatively few people come back months/years later to update their reviews to reflect reliability.

I don't trust CR one bit. My biggest issue is how they choose products to review in a category review. If they are reviewing refrigerators, say, they will often review multiple models from some manufacturers and none from others. In this way, they are stacking the deck before the review even begins. It's like the old scam that asks you "Do you want A or B?" without telling you that C is also available.

The other issue I have with them is with rating long-term reliability. Sometimes they will provide the results of customer satisfaction surveys, but usually they don't. Assessing long-term reliability is not easy, but a product review is not complete without it. It doesn't matter if a washing machine can get your whites whiter than white if it's dead within 2 years. The #1 requirement for any (expensive) appliance is that it keeps doing what it claims to do long after you've bought it.

Is this a Lowes specific model? Cannot find the model # anywhere else, even LG's own website.
Seems to be the same as this, but with steel frame around window:
https://www.lg.com/us/refrigerato...frigerator

It looks like it does have the improved smart inverter compressor- but I hear even these are still problematic.
I think the Instaview is a silly feature (would much rather have the quick access door like Samsung has).
All that said, still real tempted by this- it is a great price for a counter-depth french door refrigerator at this size and feature set.
