For those of you having issues with windows moving around due to the DisplayPort issue-- I've been using PersistentWindows on Windows 10 for the past few years with great success. I recommend giving that a try if you don't want to install the entire DisplayFusion suite to fix that one issue: https://github.com/kangyu-califor...entWindows

No, it's a l known issue. Even Microsoft acknowledged it.

"The technical terminology we use to describe this problem is known as Rapid Hot Plug Detect (Rapid HPD). This behavior impacts DisplayPort multi-monitor setups which results in unwanted desktop rearrangements."

It happened to me for years and nothing I did would fix it. DisplayFusion really helped because it let me set window profiles so I could just auto snap windows back to where they were after my PC woke from sleep and everything got rearranged.

link not working.

Need it for a work computer, do I have to keep steam running to use displayfusion? I read the other thread and don't see a definite answer.

Wait, OP, your folders and windows rearrange when your PC goes into suspend and wakes back up? That shouldn't be happening and doesn't happen on my windows 10 machines. Have multiple three monitor and two monitor setups, running windows 10, both with and without dedicated graphics cards, and that doesn't happen. Shouldn't require third party software.

I believe once the software is installed it can be run without Steam running. But, to install it I'm pretty sure you have to install Steam first.

EDIT: Ooooor maybe not…. See this post:

Ugh. I bought it for like $27 last month. Still worth every penny if you have multiple monitors

Bought this more than a decade ago. I forgot I even owned it until I got my new monitor this year. I can confirm that it makes dealing with 8k screen space much much easier.

No, you need steam for initial install and updates, but you can have Display Fusion start with Windows and run without Steam.

Huh, never happened to me on both Windows 10 or 11 and I've used only DP for my monitors

Used this before on my old windows 7/8 pc, tried powertoys on newer PC and it never really worked out. Like the multi wallpaper setting kept duplicating on wakeup/restart and taskbar was kinda meh. Bought this on Steam, ran once, and does its job everyday.

I have two monitors and want one to specifically only run wallpaper engine.exe in the background.

50% of the time, that works. But, if my main display goes to sleep or is turned off, everything goes crazy. When turning main display back on, opening a game will cause the game to start opening on the other monitor, etc. Would this fix that?

I don't know what I'd do without DisplayFusion - specifically its ability to let you see active apps on the taskbar and pin to them independently per window. It's amazing to me that it's not a core Windows feature at this point.

Being able to see which apps are open on what windows and control their pinned items independently has been a feature I've relied on for a good 10 years now, and is the only reason why I continue to use DisplayFusion.

Have this from a few years ago. It's served its use. Though these days I prefer using powertoys and that's free.
