"The technical terminology we use to describe this problem is known as Rapid Hot Plug Detect (Rapid HPD). This behavior impacts DisplayPort multi-monitor setups which results in unwanted desktop rearrangements."
It happened to me for years and nothing I did would fix it. DisplayFusion really helped because it let me set window profiles so I could just auto snap windows back to where they were after my PC woke from sleep and everything got rearranged.

Need it for a work computer, do I have to keep steam running to use displayfusion? I read the other thread and don't see a definite answer.

50% of the time, that works. But, if my main display goes to sleep or is turned off, everything goes crazy. When turning main display back on, opening a game will cause the game to start opening on the other monitor, etc. Would this fix that?
Being able to see which apps are open on what windows and control their pinned items independently has been a feature I've relied on for a good 10 years now, and is the only reason why I continue to use DisplayFusion.
