Had one of these for about four years. If you don't want to go wireless, it's a good buy.

This headset has not been redesigned or changed at all. Maybe their PC products have, I don't know, but these are identical to all the pairs I have bought over the years.

The acquisition was a few years back now, but I have yet to see a change in their headset design/quality. I have never used any of their other products, maybe those have been updated.

These are on par with cheap knockoffs that you can get from wish for $5. Honestly the sound quality and durability just isn't there. I won one for free from dreamhack and gave it to my buddy, lasted only 3 months before the hinge fell apart and one ear sputtered out
These are one of the most durable and comfortable headsets I've ever owned. The sound quality is up there too. 2 year warranty. At $30 this is a no brainer.

The only issue I have with it (and all headsets with this feature) is the volume wheel. A volume wheel is a poor design in any headset as it can cause audio loss at certain positions due to some connection issue. You can fix it by turning the wheel just a hair, but it can get annoying (and again that is every headset from any brand I have used with a volume wheel).

Be aware, HP bought HyperX from Kingston fairly recently and ever since the quality has gone down tremendously on the products

Is there a way to get decent self-monitoring with something like this? Especially since it appears to be closed back I like having monitoring so I don't sound muffled to myself.

If you're on Xbox you can adjust it. It's in the audio menu. You can adjust headset volume, game/chat mix and mic monitor strength.

Still have mine from several years ago when it was double the price. Unfortunately the material they use is pretty cheap for the earpieces and headband, and the "leather" (plastic) will flake away. I like them and sound good, but the materials don't last.

I have this headset and it is not good. It worked well for a few months and then started falling apart. Problems I have faced:

1. The volume dial needs to be carefully jiggled often to get audio in both ears.

2. The microphone frequently cuts out.

3. Heavy compared to other similar headsets.

I have multiple headsets and use them several hours a day. I really liked the design, especially since the mute slider is visible (not behind the ear), but the set is not built to last.

Any headset suggestions? My old Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 is no longer with us. 🫡

I have had a SteelSeries Arctis 1 for a much longer period and it is still running great. The only thing I don't like about it is the location of the mute button (behind the ear in the SteelSeries).

How does this compare to the turtle beach recon 50 headset for 25 bucks? Turtle beach has more reviews with close to the same star rating...
