SAE is still used on practically everything in this country that is not automotive or bicycle related.

If you're a DIYer who only works on modern vehicles, then you already know that you don't need SAE tools. But if you work on anything else, chances are pretty damn good that you'll be needing SAE.

I don't see them going anywhere fast. First result on google has these going for $62.11 after 10% coupon code at CTS.
I like alot of the Gearwrench stuff particularly the mechanic's sets, but being laser marked rather than roll stamped means they came from the lowest bidding Chinese supplier rather than Apex's own foundry.

SAE is a dying standard. Pretty much anything imported is metric. Most exported products are now metric because every other country is using metric tools.

The only SAE I regularly deal with anymore is 1/4" and 5/16" zip screws.

That being said, my recommendation based on owning it is to spend the extra $20 and get the 44-piece metric/sae combo version of this set. Even in a metric world there are occasions where wear, rust, swelling and head deformation present the opportunity for a just slightly bigger or smaller socket to have a better fit and for the little extra upfront cost you're covered.

This is a so-so deal, especially as SAE only.

Nov 2023 I got the 44 metric/SAE piece for $58.

These don't appear to be Impact rated. That's a big deal.

Other than the visually carbonized coating and thick sidewalls, it literally states impact rated in the specifics.

If you look under specifications, there's a line that says 'Standard or Impact' and the set is marked as Impact.

Thanks for pointing this deal out, with AAA discount and 5 in reward points I paid $44 plus tax.
These are Cro mo good enough for impact whether it states it or not IMO
