See my post on the other tapo cam deal for my opinion on this camera vs the equivalent eufy (https://slickdeals.net/f/17589327-tp-link-tapo-2k-pan-tilt-security-camera-c210-for-19-99-after-3-coupon-free-shipping-with-prime-or-35?p=171607422#post171607422) but to put it mildly this is an amazing deal if you have decent Wi-Fi coverage and if you want to mount it outside or use in darkness this is an absolute fantastic deal. I started with a wyze V1 through to their pan and tilt before they switched to a limited notification for free users business model, at that point I tried eufy 's 2k models, now I have this one in three separate locations and am anxiously awaiting their new outdoor PTZ with POE, qhd, and colorpro night vision to replace the garage camera that is a holdover from my older cctv system and a bit outside of my comfortable wifi range. For those that need a stationary non Ethernet option these little cameras are absolutely fantastic IMHO.

great product, but it only does text notifications without a subscription which is pretty useless if you don't have either an sd card installed OR subscription due to picture notifications requiring subscription. I think that needs to be known upfront. So if you don't plan to subscribe then make sure you purchase sd cards because by the time you open the app after the notification whatever occurred such as a delivery will most likely have been gone.

Picture notifications returning a subscription is pretty common across the industry btw - I know a few companies have allowed early adopters to be grandfathered in. Just a slight clarification.

You have to turn off night vision if you shoot through a window. I also mask the camera with a flat black piece of construction paper with a small hole cut out for the camera lens. This cuts way down on reflections. This is what I do with an interior camera and it works great.

Is this better than the Wyze v3? Seems a Wyze house but also have to link smart plugs Thinking about switching to TPlknk cams so I can just use one app for all.

What notifications do you get without a subscription?

I've got a bunch of Wyze v3 cams, but I'll never get a newer generation because the Cam Lite is the best: 12 sec clip pushed to your phone.

I'm fine to get all the SD cards for local storage, but obviously I'd like immediate notifications and clip playback.

I've actually been pretty impressed with the camera, app, and detections. To me, it's much better than Wyze, and free. People and vehicle detection works extremely well. App is fast and easy to view video history

I have SD cards in 7 Tapo cameras that are all connected to a Blue Iris PC that is actually redundant. I do not have a subscription. I love these cameras. The AI is fantastic, letting me know cars, pets and people. The only false notifications I may get is on motion where shadows and tree leaves set it off. I have this same camera outside where it gets wet occasionally and it still keeps going. I shielded the open area a bit. I've used it to watch a mother raccoon give birth to her 4 babies. Also to monitor an AC compressor that was going bad. Just throw these up wherever you need it. The C320WS are good cameras as well that can be connected to POE and a power splitter. I've bought a lot of cameras through the years and these are now my go tos. Hoping they come out with higher 8M or 16M resolution cams next.
