Not the person you were asking, but yes. No 2fa/bank texts come for me on gv.

Had a horrible experience transitioning to infimobile.

Switched from tello. The tello reps bent over backwards trying to help with things even though we were leaving their service.

Infimobile didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. After almost a month of failing to port my number, i called their tech support. Your typical Indian run place with little actual help.

The end result was wasting over a month on the failed port and taking a new number. I almost cancelled the service right then and there.

Since the Porting fiasco everything has worked perfectly. Seems that is the story with infimobile. As long as yoy don't need their tech support, you should be ok.

Only issues are with Dunkin donuts and microcenter free stuff. It works fine for my chase for 2FA (but not for zelle for some reason...it outright won't even let me enter my number)

I have no issue using my "real" number for those...it isn't like there's a human on the other side who will care if I change the number.
Thanks. How is your experience with call quality etc? I'm guessing we have to use the GV dialer for calls? Is that as good as the Android phone dialer by Google?

I'm concerned about the voice call quality for conferences, interviews, work related calls etc. Will the calls be as good on GV as they are with a cellular carrier number?

That is what I was worried about. That would suck for sure.

Anyone know how it would work if I have a secondary phone and I DONT want to port a number? Is it as easy as put the physical sim in and it works? They just "give" me a random number or what? Also anyone have any experience with reliability of service

Port your main number to Google Voice. Then you can take advantage of every phone deal without losing your main number.
Can you explain how that works?

Over $20.00 for sale taxes and fees killed the deal.

I've used Google Voice for this for 10+ years and have been very happy with it to be able to switch and try out new carriers while keeping my number. Unfortunately Google isn't really supporting it anymore and it may be time for me to move on soon. I've recently purchased a new car (Chevy Blazer EV) that doesn't support android auto or apple carplay. Instead it has a built in Google automotive OS and you use your Google account to directly download android apps to the vehicles infotainment system. But Google voice isn't supported for this Google automotive OS for the car, so I can't get texts or make calls through the cars voice system. I have to initiate calls through phone and use Bluetooth connection. It's frustrating that GV isn't supported in a Google product.

You can actually use you carrier signal and the built in dialer while using your GV number. The quality, in that case, is identical to regular phone calls. The recipient will see your GV number. You can configure this to be automatic, or you can tell the app to let you choose which # to display for each call (your real # or your GV #).

You CAN use the GV dialer if you like, and configure that to use data/wifi. That's actually how my family makes calls while traveling overseas without incurring high call rates.

Otherwise, switching between the dialers makes no tangible difference while stateside. The UI of the built in dialer (at least for my pixel) is definitely better looking, however.
