I've had the same GV number for close to 10 years and have never had any issues. A lot of members in the phone threads also use GV to take advantage of MVNO deals.

On another note, I had issues ordering the 6 month plan from Amazon for the Memorial day sale(Amazon doesn't charge as much for fees). The two SIM cards is ordered never arrived after 3 weeks, and they said it was lost, so I just got a refund. The SIM I ordered for my mum from the carrier site arrived perfectly on time in March.

I was a huge advocate of the method which you proposed since 2015, and I have been none the wiser to any downsides...until just this past week. I started having random text messages bounce back saying ""Message not delivered. See Acceptable Use Policy" I have no clue what I did to trigger it, but I couldnt send texts to random people who I have been messaging regularly for a long time.
The forums, reddit...no one had an answer. If you go to google voice forums, there is this one REALLY snarky moderator who basically embodies the "If you dont like it, get out" mentality. I ended up having to use a DIFFERENT GV number to send texts to these people from last Thursday onwards.
*Finally*I was able to change random words in my text to one friend to get it to send. There are some trigger words which make the system think that I am sending spam. It might be the word "students." Maybe it thinks that I am sending a business text??
Regardless, I have been panicking since last week and thinking about whether to keep my phone number on GV after a 9+ year run.

After 10GB of 5G/4G data is consumed, speed will be reduced for the remaining of the plan.
No experience with this carrier fyi. Debating on using this is on my sons phone.

I have no issue using my "real" number for those...it isn't like there's a human on the other side who will care if I change the number.
