Port your main number to Google Voice. Then you can take advantage of every phone deal without losing your main number.

As a counter to this, if you do any amount of texting, don't do this. The google voice app is pretty ass and you can't use RCS with it. Also some apps will not let you use 2FA with it (chatgpt and lots of dating apps). It's def not worth the inconvenience of not having two numbers on your phone (asking google assistant to send a text and it sends from the wrong number) and dealing with google voice

Based on the above comments, it's not clear whether this carrier and plan is recommended or not. Anyone using this plan, please share your thoughts.

They have a bring your number option. Did that not work ?
Nope. Their customer service people said the number was "administratively locked". Tello said it was ready to port. I've moved the number several times without incident. Why infimobile had so much trouble porting it is beyond me. When I talked to their customer service people they didn't really seem to know what was going on.

If I ever run into another issue, I have little faith they'd be able to fix it.

I ended up purchasing the 99$ Unlimited Plan which ending up coming out to $113.13 in Chicago.

I'm going to use an older phone to activate then plan on using it for failsafe internet backup so if my AT&T modem goes out, I can use Infimobile temporarily.

I'll update once everything is all setup and good to go.

*Update*

I was able to setup the sim card with a Samsung Galaxy S9+ Unlocked and works perfectly. Now that I just hooked up a Cudy LT500 4G Modem, the sim card works flawlessly for either phone or modem. On the first day that I got it, I was receiving around 400 down and 20 up and now, 10 down and 2 up.

Since this is really a back up item, for paying $113 for the year with Chicago taxes, I'd do it again.

This is just as good as other Verizon MVNOs?
No, this carrier does not support ultra wide band, only LTE and standard 5G

I did this exact thing, but I'm switching back because GV is VOIP and doesn't get the same priority that cellular minutes and SMS get. Also a lot of banks and PayPal require you to have a non-GV number as your phone number for verification texts, so be prepared to have to change that with companies every time you switch.

I'm going to go with the dual SIM approach, one for voice and one for data. Heard about it on here as well, and it seems like the more reliable option, albeit $5-7 extra a month for the voice line.
I do this exact thing. I work as a tech support specialist and like to be on top of the state of affairs on google voice and MVNO's. Although one could port your main number into google voice, I've had enough services deny using my GV number and Google mark good numbers as spam to a point where I'd never do this. I ported my main number to Tello and pay about $8/month for minutes and purchase prepaid plans only for data. This works for me.

I was able to use my tello number when visiting Japan with a 2nd esim. Will this work the same way if I get basic tello service and use this for data only on a 2nd esim?
Absolutely! I did this when visiting Iceland a few weeks ago. Used my Tello number to text and call anywhere and bought a data plan via Airhub to get unlimited data there for only $36!

You can initiate porting during activation after you receive the card.

I've been using this service on a secondary phone for a while and had a bad rough patch I posted about previously on one of the many infimobile deals posted here. It started working again one day and the service has been good ever since. Given that this is a Verizon-owned MVNO I still can't believe how/why a service like this would be down for 2+ weeks at my location. I still find the app to be kind of terrible and cannot stand the intro graphics which takes up time when launching the app. I hate the overall experience (Mint seems nicer) but IMO it works great when it works. This is much better than the 1 year 1GB/month I got for around or under $70, so I would jump on this if I were renewing.

I've been using infimobile for a month and everything works great except for MMS. Customer service provided me APN setting for my phone (Samsung), but MMS doesn't work. Anyone having the same issues?
Same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. MMS has worked on the phone for multiple carriers including Visible & USmobile. Infimoble said the would send me a T-mobile SIM soon. Not happy with that and the lack of ability to change my APN with their SIM. I have 6 mo 20 GB fro Amazon.
