As a counter to this, if you do any amount of texting, don't do this. The google voice app is pretty ass and you can't use RCS with it. Also some apps will not let you use 2FA with it (chatgpt and lots of dating apps). It's def not worth the inconvenience of not having two numbers on your phone (asking google assistant to send a text and it sends from the wrong number) and dealing with google voice

Doesn't work with my unlocked pixel 8 pro. Says not compatible.

edit: changed to physical sim and it worked.

paying $212 for 9 lines currently. switching out saves me $1000.

jmp.chat while very very small has been great for me for years. A few bucks per month and it mostly works (suggest making sure all your banks have the number registered as "real" before transferring to jmp or google). i found most services don't mind it being voip, but some (shady af paypay for example) will immediately permaban you even if you're using a valid credit card that has been tied to the same phone number since 2006....not that this is from personal experience.

agree with the others, as a google voice number user since it was grand central, its gone downhill (like all of google)

Anyone know if you can configure the number of rings before voicemail? This matters for GV usage. Redpocket doesn't let you change and the number of rings is less than GV voicemail pickup so I have a shitty problem of Redpocket stopping the call to start VM instead of GV....
