If you are a current Boost customer and NOT eligible for upgrade, then your account will show the retail price of $269.99. It is possible to create a new account with a different email and then buy the Stylus as a new user for $39 + $15. After receiving the new phone and activating it on the new plan, the user could then put the old sim into the new phone. Disabling autopay on the new account would also be needed. Downside of this strategy is Boost will not unlock the phone a year from now since the phone changed accounts.
If you are buying the phone as a new user with one month of service, then there is no obligation other than activating the device. Disable autopay from within the account settings so you will not be charged with for month #2. But then, not paying for 12 months of active service will leave the phone forever sim locked to Boost.
Hoping to find a 3rd party sim unlocker so far for 2023 Boost Motorola phones have not been successful. Seems like there will be a repeat of no 3rd party being able to unlock 2024 models is likely, but that is yet to be determined.

It's a proposal, not a "filed as a bill"

For Boost, how many months of service do you have to pay for ... 1 or 2?
