As much as I would like to purchase I hear lots of bad things about the software for this router.

True as an AP it may be good, but I would rather have it as a primary router with dhcp

There's been some effort to get openwrt working on it. There are already other ipq6018 routers supported.

This is really cheap for a tri band wifi 6 router. It's 2x2 on 2.4GHz and one 5GHz. It's 4x4 on the other.
