Personally I think the M2 Air is a better deal. It's 128GB of storage and faster chip and better front camera placement and with $100 Apple gift card from edu store the net cost is $449. Apple credit is as good as cash to me but that may not be true for everyone. Also can pay with Apple gift cards that have accumulated from other Target and Amazon and WM deals for 10-20% off. Chase points also give $100 gc for $90 of points which makes it even better. And lastly, only taxed on $449 rather than $549 price

Need a deal on the mini 6!!!
No, I don't want to wait for the new one. I need a small , inexpensive ($200-$300) media consumption tablet in the Apple ecosystem that's bigger than my iPhone 15 pro max. New one will be more than what I need and way expensive.

i love the ipad Mini, i finally upgraded my old 2 to a 6 at Christmas.
the lowest the 6 has been is $375 at Amazon about a month ago.

the ipad mini 6 has the A15 chip. works fine for me, especially coming from an old mini 2.

i'd like to compare the two side-by-side, just for curiosity.

YMMV
I've M1 Air and I frequently face issues with Bluetooth, AirPlay, and AirDrop that I don't face with my iPad Air with non-M chip. And I've seen similar complaints online. I would skip M1. Maybe they have fixed those isssues in M2 or M3.

Don't worry the next gen iPhone super Max will be the size of a mini.

Do you have a link? I see M2 for 899 with a 150 card making it closer to $749 net. Also do I merely need an edu email to get the discount? https://www.apple.com/us-edu/shop...13-inch-m2

If its for media consumption only then why does it matter? Android tablets are FAR cheaper and do the job. Many also have AV1 hardware decoding and sadly Apple does not. Personally I like my TV but I must be old...

You are suggesting 5-6 things to potentially save a few bucks. That is a lot of labor and you make assumptions that I could look back in the past. However these are good points to consider in the future so kudos there.

For GC I think Apple accessories are outrageous and I purchased the ESR package (foilo, pen pro) for $85 (no tax btw) which if I did Apple it would be $400 (minus the $100 gc). I though about it and my kid wanted one for college. I was just going to get the ipad 10 for $329 but I ended up getting this because the M1 has neural engine and I am thinking in the next 4-5 years AI will come to these devices and the A14 (ipad 10) will be left out in the cold or will be 100% cloud based and by that meaning they will charge you or spy on you or both. Not saying they won't on M-based but at least inference can be done locally. I suppose its a $70 guess.

The one thing I dislike is the 64gb, it should be 128gb min so that did make me think long and hard before pulling the trigger but alas I bit on this deal. Now the question is will the kid break it, prob. I already had to replace the screen for her air 2 once...

As to no tax on GC delta, I live in NY they tax the original full price so YMMV.
