Are these any good? Or are these like "hyper-tough" wal mart brand?

I'm also wondering that. I tried some from Harbor Freight 20+ years ago and they were junk, but my dad brought home some Harbor Freight ones the other day and they were good to go. If these work properly, that's a nice good selection for the money; and I've used every style of plier in that set regularly, it's not a bunch of filler that'll just take up drawer space.

They've got 4.8 out of 4 stars, like 18 ratings on Northern Tool site. I think they're worth a shot.

Pretty sure he meant out of five.
But I love this!
I will be getting these. Have tried the brand before and it worked fine.
