I don't know why this color isn't getting over, but that's a great price on that guitar - can't even get one used at that price.

Can you check with your Adorama contacts Iconian please? I think they meant to mark this purple people eater special down to 600, not just the gold top: https://www.adorama.com/evh107701598.html

Also, in case anyone wondering, here is the guitar dude on youtube that kills it with EVH riffs doing a short review along with a comparison to the standards (tldr special has FRT-1000 FR bridge with D-Tuna, upgraded pots, top carve and no belly cut, while the standard has FR Special bridge with no D-Tuna, belly cut and no real top carve): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHd5jhR8Fhw

What's the biggest differences in this compared to the one EVH gave Jack White around 2018 for his Boarding House Reach album?

I'm just really unfamiliar with these guitars, probably not going to grab one but I would like to be a little better informed. Thanks!

So the Green Glow bothers you as well ? I think I'm down to one difference preventing me going with this deal - I have convinced myself that the thinner neck will help me progress- that may net really be an issue.

I think I'll see if I can find a Charvel at a local shop today and test it out. If it isn't a noticeable difference, then I'm done!

Same compound radius. Charvel is a fraction wider and a fraction of a mm thinner. Idk that you'll see any difference.

Pickups are good on both, imo. I think the biggest non cosmetic difference will be the floating term on the charvel vs the non floating on the evh. And the evh has the d tuna. They're both fender made and undoubtedly the same line at Ensenada. I've had to put a washer in my evh striped locking nuts on the low E side to get it to tighten properly. Easy but annoying to get the washers lol. I don't play my striped as much since I've got a bunch of regular strats too.

But I def think that green is hideous and they've been trying to clear them out at least a year. Which sucks because fender makes some beautiful translucent ash finishes and they just went ugly on this for who knows why.

I've seen a pic of Jack White with a blue Evh Wolfgang. Undoubtedly the biggest difference is that's a USA custom shop. Looks like it has triple pickups and the kill switch. Block inlays.

The Charvel is actually Korean, not that it probably really matters

Yes - it took a while for me to confirm this, but it is Korean - may because it is ash?

Well that's something new I learned. And odd. But from various forums it appears after 2020 and the ash models are MIK. I have some expensive guitars from Korea like the LTD camo Snakebyte or my Schecter Synester Gates. So not a snob. But for a Fender (Charvel… same diff anymore) I'd prefer Mexico over Korea. But that's just personal taste. And history. I hade a MIK FMT Tele and the fretwork sucked.

Well, I did a thing. I went to a Guitar Center and held a Charvel San Dimas and really liked the feel of that neck. I compared it to my MiM telecaster and I felt the difference was noticeable. They did not have an EVH for comparison. Unfortunately the Charvel they had was not a good deal, so I passed.

I really couldn't pull the trigger on the Green Glow deal due to the fugly. So I came home, ready to order this beautiful EVH. But I checked some used markets and found a gorgeous MiJ San Dimas that was a pretty good deal (still a few hundred more than this deal with a hard gig bag included) and appears never to have been used - I just got back from picking it up and am very satisfied.

I have to admit, I may still end up with the EVH but I can resist fur now. Thanks for the conversation and information!
