Can't quite wrap my head around why this costs so much. A bit of wood and moveable tray and boom add $70+ to a similar itx case.

It's gorgeous, well made, and highly rated?

I wish I had gotten this instead of their console-shaped case (for $99). I think it came out right after I made that purchase.

I've built in this a few times. If you plan your parts properly you will not have any issues. There is a considerable amount of planning you need to do before building in this or mimic another build someone has confirmed worked.

Great to build, nightmare to debug and troubleshoot

Yep.. takes special consideration & planning (googling; others have done similar with high end components). Gotta be more selective with the components here. They make great stuff though.

Alternatively, Cooler Master NR200P is a nice SFF mini-itx case without a lot of limits besides wanting a SFX PSU. Can fit certain tower coolers, or 240-280mm AIO, plus virtually all size of graphics cards. Good 'bottom in, top out' chimney-style airflow if you can sneak two fans in below your GPU (with a 2-slot card).

Clever design, lots of milled and/or laser-cut aluminum with nice fit/finish...

Now that I'm older and more limited on space I've been eyeing this case for a bit. The dimensions are just too tight for my current parts, but when it's time for a full upgrade I'll be all over this and research thoroughly what works best.

Of course the selling point is the aesthetics and the price reflects it (rightfully so) and has a niche (likely older) audience. My current Fractal tower is sitting next to my a/v player and turntable, for someone like me the size and look are worth the price. The LEDs and glass panel on my current one were nice at the time when I could hide it under the desk, but now I just want something lowkey that flows with a/v gear and speakers you'd typically already own that have the similar finishes.

I'm not a serious gamer, but would be curious if any own this and are happy with the temps.

Its actually quite hefty, the metal is thick. I do like Fractal cases as they are high quality.

I have this with 5800X3D and 4080 Super, i dont really have too many complaints, in fact i even travelled with it on a long haul flight. PBO tuned CPU and UV the GPU and it for me its decent. If you go for the 7800X3D it will be easier to cool, i am using the Thermalright AXP90 X53 full copper, one thing with this case (or most SFF cases) you need to know your GPU dimensions and your CPU cooler. I do eventually want to get the 9800X3D when it releases. But overall i love this build as i can travel with it and it can do 4K 60 or better for most titles with DLSS.

Now, if there was a 2nd gen of this device, i wish it would have just ever so slightly bigger so that we could actually have space for more than 1 fan. I am using a Noctua fan as an exhaust right now. Also in checked luggage the spine can move with it being chucked around even though its screwed tightly, so i will need to get some 3D printed part to prevent it from moving the next time i travel. Would be cool to also have something like a Fractal North X Terra. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I bought mine from Asia so it was higher than the regular price, so 140 is quite cheap IMO.
