Something to be aware of is if they have low stock it may be worth ordering online and setting to allow for similar items as replacements if they're out especially ay this price because their inventory count may be wrong. It's out in this area too but if it only allows 1-2 that's a good strategy to get some gel pens if you don't actually care whether it's G2 or this color.

So Walgreens won't adjust the final price to match the substituted product?

No they just give you something similar which won't be on clearance so it costs / is worth more, when you complete an order you will see those options. I actually ended up getting a whole order for free but that's just because they didn't mark it off in their system and I even called to tell them, but they didn't know what happened at the store level so it was refunded to me even after I picked up like 9 out of 10 things.
