For those who aren't aware, gen2 stubbys are coming out in early September. https://www.protoolreviews.com/mi...es-gen-ii/

The new model has 550 ft lbs of torque, so not quite 3X, but over 2X. Good to know if you're considering this model. Info on the new model was shared with all the Milwaukee pipeline updates last week: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/New...t-Wrenches

I love this impact. Only issue ive had using it professionally along with the 90degree one is the friction ring coming off. Easily replaced and cheap with an ebay replacement. But with the new ones coming these will be all over marketplace, pawnshops, Craigslist, etc for much cheaper and new ones will be clearanced all over to clear overstock. If you can wait i would and get the new one but if thats not affordable still wait and snap up a used one or clearance. This seems like an average deal homedepot runs

3x stronger? - can you provide a citation for that claim? This little sub compact impact wrench puts out 250 ft lbs of torque. So by "stronger" you mean the new gens will put out 750 ft lbs of torque???

EDIT - I didn't realize at first glance, but you can also get a free Milwaukee Hackzall with this deal, which is a desirable free tool and worth at least around $60… which brings the compact impact wrench with 2 batts down to only $140 (even less if you can use that coupon mentioned above). Pretty damn good deal.

Gonna be interesting to see Torque Test channel's review on the new one when it drops. Find it hard to believe that it can do 550 ft lbs of nut busting torque. Not a physicist but hard to imagine the small hammer within can break away stuck bolts/nuts that say a mid torque can. Just not enough reciprocating mass.

I saw video of the old one (current gen...the one in this deal) loosening nuts that were torqued to 500 ft/lbs, so, I'd imagine 550 is possible

That's helpful, thanks. I'd really like to see that claim tested on a 12v battery platform in sub compact size. If it's true, then that's quite amazing. That said, the OP's deal is still really good for what you get, and how many home mechanics need more than 250 ft lbs of breakaway torque? Unless you're regularly changing Honda timing belts, then this size and torque should be more than adequate for most home DIY'ers, and even professionals for that matter (pro mechanics usually have more than one impact wrench, anyway).

They beefed up the mass on the impact mechanism in these, and paired it with one of their newer motors. The old ones couldn't really pull off an actual 250 either. I've had mine struggle on 90 ft-lb lugs.

See above, it can struggle on lugs tightened to way below 250 ft-lbs. The hope with the new one is that it can cover all those smaller fasteners AND not struggle with lug nuts all in one tool.
