For those who aren't aware, gen2 stubbys are coming out in early September. https://www.protoolreviews.com/mi...es-gen-ii/

The new model has 550 ft lbs of torque, so not quite 3X, but over 2X. Good to know if you're considering this model. Info on the new model was shared with all the Milwaukee pipeline updates last week: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/New...t-Wrenches

They beefed up the mass on the impact mechanism in these, and paired it with one of their newer motors. The old ones couldn't really pull off an actual 250 either. I've had mine struggle on 90 ft-lb lugs.

See above, it can struggle on lugs tightened to way below 250 ft-lbs. The hope with the new one is that it can cover all those smaller fasteners AND not struggle with lug nuts all in one tool.
Torque Test Channel rated the 1/2" version at 233 ft-lb (best case scenario), so that is pretty close. Of course the results will vary in the hands of end users depending on so many things, such as battery used, battery charge, socket weight, socket fit*, extensions, thread condition, corrosion, etc.

I use the 225 ft-lb Ridgid subcompact, and while it'll struggle on some "90 ft-lb" lug nuts at the junkyard, it does just fine on my vehicles' lugs that are torqued to 90 every few months when I rotate the tires.

*Regarding socket fit, I have found that a lot of lug nuts are not sized very accurately or are easily damaged by tire shop monkeys. A 19mm socket that fits snugly on a brake caliper bolt will be sloppy on that vehicle's supposedly 19mm lugs. Slop in the fit of the socket is going to rob a lot of the impact oomph from the impact wrench.

Went shopping again, wondering if the m12 Grease gun had a good deal. Went back and the New10 $10 showed up. I have wanted to try the soldering iron for months
My butane Master Appliances irons have been failing.
Thanks OP

There's no way they beefed it up to where it can break away a nut while applying over double the torque. At least that's what the skeptic in me is saying. Either way, I love my Milwaukee stuff so it's always a pleasure when they innovate.

Having gotten/used some of their newest gen of older M12 tools, let me be the first to tell you that they can and have substantially increased power/capability in their M12 lineup.

With the new impact, they're probably right about at the limit of what the M12 batteries can do (even the newer 2.5 / 5.0 HO).

I have the current gen M12 Fuel hex impact, 3/8 impact, and ratchet. They have the power in their respective category, but not for applications where a stuck large bolt or nut is required to break like on suspension components and doing so requires a mid torque. So we shall see.

Wish the free Hackzall was the Fuel version. Pretty good price though.

Gonna be interesting to see Torque Test channel's review on the new one when it drops. Find it hard to believe that it can do 550 ft lbs of nut busting torque. Not a physicist but hard to imagine the small hammer within can break away stuck bolts/nuts that say a mid torque can. Just not enough reciprocating mass.
The m12 3/8 can bust 500 ft/lb??

Mine does fine. Its probably the battery you're using.
