IMO, I'd spend an extra $10 to pick up this model's bigger brother. It's rated for twice the square footage. I bought one awhile back and have been happy with it:

What decent and affordable air filters would you recommend?

I bought the HC502 and love it. You can definitely tell the difference in air quality and my allergies have been better. My only complaint is that there's no back lighting on the remote which makes the controls hard to see. You can't even feel the buttons because they're not embossed. So if you wake up in the middle of the night trying to adjust it you'll have to use some type of lighting.

I do like that the main displays light is dimmable.

I have two of these. One upstairs and one downstairs. These replaced my Winix air purifiers. The Winix are good, but these are much better, more versatile, and less maintenance.

What's the difference between this HC451 and the HC452 on the Shark website? It's the same price.

https://www.sharkclean.com/produc...a-zidHC452

I bought the HC452 from them on Black Friday for $160.

Well, guess that explains why I saw one of these used for $50 on Facebook. I wouldn't pay $70 for a filter either.

I got one of these at Target on clearance for $90 last year. It is pretty amazing, actually. But amazing for under 100.
