Yeah limey, as if we heathen Americans care about your metric system. Feet and inches works just fine.

What a sexist name. I call my tape measures "width challenged".

Nice. I nicked my field tape a while back and have been meaning to replace it. The extra will replace the cheap tape I have in the shop that has a broken lock.

Thankfully there's still a lot of folks who some will call "sexist" and call things like they are without giving a s..t.
Now back to the tapes, these were this price since BF at my local stores, there's not that many left though and some are covered in layers of dust by now. There's also two pack of Husky for $15 and they're not as heavy duty as Stanley but label is showing lifetime warranty so if they can be exchanged at the store directly it would be still good deal, they have fractional gradients as well.

Man it's always the 25ft tapes. Has anyone ever seen the 16 footers go on sale? I already had bought 2 two packs of these from previous sales. The Fatmax tapes are awesome. A little bit heavier than standart tapes but the crazy long stand out is worth it. highly recommend
HD has these Husky at $8 which is not too bad and offer "lifetime" warranty which I'm sure is mostly bogus though: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky.../320510417

I wish, but I think the 16' sell quite well and these 25' don't. So, in order to move the inventory they put these on sale from time to time.

I bought a couple of these years ago and hated em (I mean I still used em so maybe hate is a strong work). Clunky and the markings sucked, the return spring is too weak for the extra weight as well. I bought some cheapo kobalts after I chucked the fat maxes in the bin and I'm way happier with em.

Bought one of these two months ago to replace my old Craftsman that seemed too floppy at longer lengths. Ended up returning it because the locking mechanism was terrible. It did not hold well and kept slowly retracting as you were trying to measure.

Unless you're a pro carpenter, you need a metric tape. I would never use tape that does not have a metric scale for anything that requires even a little precision. In some jobs it is completely indispensable, e.g. trim and cabinetry, laying tiles, etc.
At this point it is beyond me why anyone would use SAE tape measure to begin with.

At this point it is beyond me why anyone at home would ever need to use a metric tape measure in the US to begin with.

I have had a laser measure with both SAE and metric settings. I have never once had the need to set it to metric.

SAE/metric (wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, caplipers, micrometers, etc...), sure. Tape measure, never

I just got a 25 ft tape measure at harbor freight for $5. This isn't a slick price for two tape measures at $44 or $25.
I'm not a Harbor Freight snob, in fact I own several tools from there. That said, I would never buy anything that I am relying on to make accurate measurements from HF. The cheap Pittsburgh stuff that HF sells doesn't even compare to a FatMax tape when it comes to accuracy, longevity, or usefulness. With any kind of serious usage, you'll go through a dozen of those $5 tapes before you see any kind of wear on these FatMax tapes.

I have 10 tape measures, and can never find one when I need it. Perhaps TWELVE is the magic number!
