Thing was 50 bucks off and on for the longest time, surprised they still have so many in stock.
If anyone buys multiples here is a great site for alternate build plans

Thanks OP! Bought this to relive my youth with my kid. They will love it I am sure. 😂

At least it has Benny-like mini figs. That will make them happier.

Is this really difficult to build as indicated by 18+ rating?

No, Lego age ratings aren't closely tied to the difficulty of the set. An 8 year old (or even younger) with Lego experience could build this set.

There is a tricky spot when building the canopy support and if you do it wrong you will have to take apart a significant portion of the ship. So when you build the early portions of the slanted canopy pay close attention and it will be fine. We had fun with it and built a hybrid with the Lego VW Camper I have. Also I can't keep it built because it's big and needs a deep shelf to hold it.

It's not so much a difficulty rating as an attention span one. The larger sets with higher age ratings are often longer builds not necessarily harder. But like all sets they are broken up into multiple bags making it easy to work through a few bags at a time if need be.

It's retired now so it may not see many more sales.

Yea, it's weirdly more tied to the number of pieces more than anything.

Just remembered I wanted this set soooo bad when I was a lil kid, I would build my own similar ships, but alas didn't have alot of the parts offered here! Don't forget to add a few other items to force ship in a wallymart box, I added some of the 24 piece crayons that are $0.50 a box...

I got this set in...must have been 1983 or '84, back when the economic reality we all faced was that you might have one or two Lego sets (and the rich kids might have had four!) and you would constantly build and unbuild and build something new. This was my only set until a couple years later, but wow, what good memories.
