Nespresso is different from a regular espresso machine because they're specific pods carefully designed by Nespresso to achieve a certain flavor profile (and they're very good). A google search will show that the ideal pressure for brewing a shot of espresso is between 7-11 bar, however this is a very subjective topic and why espresso/coffee is so fun and versatile. Also having a 20bar machine doesn't mean you'll always be brewing at 20 bars of pressure. I just means the pump is capable of producing that amount of pressure. You can adjust with grind size and tamp pressure to play around with extraction to find what you like. There's really no right way to brew espresso, only the way you like it.

Figured I'd go through the reviews at Best buy since there's a lot of speculation on here. So it seems like there were some faulty units out of the box which people could have just returned but left one star reviews anyway. And then there's some other reviews that seem mostly like user error. And then there's an overwhelming majority of excellent reviews for the unit. including one that says you can use many styles of coffee, I can't speak to the truth of that you can buy espresso ground if buying a $200 grinder is a deal breaker for you. another customer compares it to his much more expensive breville machine and says it's just as good. also another customer says that he is drinking coffee daily of all types for basically his entire life and he finds this unit to produce a great quality brew.

personally I don't mind taking a chance for 30 bucks.

they even throw in two months of a cooking streaming service for free lol.

Are you suggesting 20 bars is a lot of pressure or a little pressure?

Something of interest on this post brought you to this thread.

Pragmatic - we've never owned an espresso machine and certainly would never consider paying $500+. At $30 we've entered the market, we enjoy the best coffee we've ever made at home, and are now consumers. Without access at this price point we would never have had the opportunity we have now - the possibility to become espresso snobs.

Bought one 8wks ago, bought another today for work, because why not
Amen, baby steps. $30 compared to $600 is a big diff, to put it in perspective.... it's not like it will produce poop vs the $600 one that will produce filet mignon.

It will produce a decent coffee (will not taste like poop) as oppose to a delicious coffee but at 20th of the cost.

I wouldn't buy a Bentley supercar when all I would like would be a good toyota to drive (they both drive, yes one is SUPER BETTER than the other, but both drive and as a starter car a toyota is perfect)

I didn't want to by this, but after 20 bars I felt pressured.
I was getting ready to take a long walk off a short cliff to put myself out of my misery from reading some of the brain dead replies and misinformation all over this thread even including a 'trust me bro' or 2 from people claiming to have experience but who clearly consume too much youtube and reddit, lol - but your reply was... *chefs kiss* It was the perfect joke to break up the monotony, +1 and thank you for your service

Also, despite the deal being dead now, if anyone is still reading this thread, I'm kind of surprised no one directly addressed the 'bar' situation with most home machines. Someone pointed out 9 bars is ideal for espresso - that's actually correct. Others then countered with claims about higher bars from other machines and not addressing what is *actually * happening there: most small home machines like this for the past 10 years or so do 2 things regarding the bars situation:

[1] - that 15 or 19 or 20 bars your machine claims? That's *not* the pressure your coffee is being extracted from the grounds at. Your/these machines do those pressures because that's the pressure at the *pump*, to compensate for the pressure that is typically lost between the pump and the group head (which is where the water meets your coffee for extraction)

so, especially on a brand new machine, what if after the pressure difference you're still at say 12 bars of pressure before extraction? Well, that's where this next part comes in:

[2] most of those same machines now also have an over pressure valve at this point in the process, that brings that pressure down to 9 bars for extraction, and redirects the excess pressure elsewhere. So as long as person A's 15 bar machine and person B's 20 bar machine are working properly and optimally, both should be extracting at 9 bars of pressure.

(but 'more bars' certainly seems cooler and better on the surface for marketing and sales purposes, doesn't it? - just remember, it's an espresso machine, not your cellular phone network Smilie )

I'm curious if there are going to ship... I see it's back to $120 today, so it was likely a price glitch. i.e. $30 instead of $30 off. Which is why the stock got pulled, and now they're back

Ordered one before OOS and still waiting for pickup(no shipping available that time) Normally takes less than a day. Now allowing me to change to ship home. $30 for an espresso machine is a no brainer. This will be my spare. I paid double for my current one ordered from Temu. It works great but who knows how long it will last lol.

Mine came in. It doesn't work. It doesn't get up to temperature and the buttons keep flashing. When it reaches temperature the button lights will be solid but mine doesn't get to that. I suppose now I have to waste an hour going in store to return this.

$30 for a week of espresso at most is not smart. Quality is atrocious and will break before long. Caveat emptor.
Thank you Mike Brady

Got mine! Works great. Detailed instructions written in English. Performs well. Great intro machine. Read the instructions to purge the machine initially. Most likely people are not doing it. Works great!

You probably didn't purge it properly. Would recommend you read and follow the instructions. Mine works just fine. Good luck

Thank you, OP

Got one at $30.00, Important to follow instructions under "Before Using Machine For The First Time" on page 10 of the manual. Need to do this to clean the machine and to get rid of the chemical taste felt in my first cup of espresso.
For $30.00 this thing is good.

I've checked this several times and it never shows $30. Thought it was dead but I see new comments grabbing this deal. I'm logged in to the Best Buy app and am a member. Is there something I'm missing?
