Nespresso is different from a regular espresso machine because they're specific pods carefully designed by Nespresso to achieve a certain flavor profile (and they're very good). A google search will show that the ideal pressure for brewing a shot of espresso is between 7-11 bar, however this is a very subjective topic and why espresso/coffee is so fun and versatile. Also having a 20bar machine doesn't mean you'll always be brewing at 20 bars of pressure. I just means the pump is capable of producing that amount of pressure. You can adjust with grind size and tamp pressure to play around with extraction to find what you like. There's really no right way to brew espresso, only the way you like it.

Figured I'd go through the reviews at Best buy since there's a lot of speculation on here. So it seems like there were some faulty units out of the box which people could have just returned but left one star reviews anyway. And then there's some other reviews that seem mostly like user error. And then there's an overwhelming majority of excellent reviews for the unit. including one that says you can use many styles of coffee, I can't speak to the truth of that you can buy espresso ground if buying a $200 grinder is a deal breaker for you. another customer compares it to his much more expensive breville machine and says it's just as good. also another customer says that he is drinking coffee daily of all types for basically his entire life and he finds this unit to produce a great quality brew.

personally I don't mind taking a chance for 30 bucks.

they even throw in two months of a cooking streaming service for free lol.

Are you suggesting 20 bars is a lot of pressure or a little pressure?

Mine arrived today. I tried to follow the first time instructions but nothing came out when trying steam or make a cup. Looks like the instructions didn't include the part where you have to manually prime the pump. I saw a person suggest lifting the water tank off and on 40 times or until the bubbles stop. I did it more than 40 less than 100 and the bubbles got smaller but kept coming. I gave up and ran a double and water actually came out but not enough. I ran the double again and it poured the correct amount. I purged the steam and then ran the tank dry pressing the double. Refilled the tank and made a pretty good cappuccino for my first attempt. Like the espresso, you need to wait for the steam light to stop blinking after button press to work as intended. Tasted great and was pretty quick even for a noob.
Yeah the instructions say to run a full tank through before making your first drink. It took a couple runs to even get water going Smilie

I'm curious if there are going to ship... I see it's back to $120 today, so it was likely a price glitch. i.e. $30 instead of $30 off. Which is why the stock got pulled, and now they're back
Yep I got 2 Smilie

Anyone here missing the cleaning pin indicated in the instructions? I can't see it in there.

It's located under the handle of the scoop/tamper.

Ours arrived 2 day ago and I had no trouble getting through the set up process - following the instructions. We compared shots between this and our Philips Lattego 3200 using Lavazza Barista Grand Crema, La Colombe Corsica and Najar (a very finely pre-ground coffee for Turkish coffee). There was no discernible difference between the two machines for the first 2, but the real advantage for us is that it readily produced a very tasty Turkish coffee in about 25 seconds. The Philips takes about 3 minutes for the same shot and Seattle Coffee told us to stop trying because it will eventually blow out the pump on the Lattego. My wife loves Turkish coffee so we've been wanting a dedicated espresso machine for this very purpose. For $30, this machine seems perfect and a great investment.

I have not yet figured out how to foam milk properly, but we plan to use with the Philips for milk drinks.

Received mine expcept UPS guy didn't want to wait 30 seconds for me to come out and receive it and threw it over the fence. Unit ended up having a large crack along the base.

Going to try to get a replacement.

My delivery guy threw mine onto the porch right in front of me. Luckily, there was no damage.

Water from the bottom. When you push the single or double. Every time there was water leaking below the machine. Returning for replacement.

we've had the machine for about 3 days now. here's my quick thoughts:
1. the single shot produces 1oz - 1.5oz, the double shot produces 0.25oz and is clearly off/broken. the measurements are clearly inaccurate. If we decide we like making lattes at home, I will use the warranty to hopefully get a new one with properly functioning single/double pumps.
2. you cannot use the steamer at the same time as the machine is brewing espresso.
3. the steamer works fine AFTER it dispenses about a half ounce of water. not sure if this is normal or a product of a cheap product, but i just let it spray into the drip tray first, then dip the milk pitcher after it starts spewing steam.
4. after my 5th or 6th attempt (1st time trying to make drinks at home besides coffee), we've figured out how to use it, and it makes a perfectly good latte. We used flavored syrups from amazon/homegoods. my wife even said it was "excellent".
5. overall, you can tell it's a cheaply made product. but for $30, it's the perfect starter machine for us to test whether my wife is willing to make her lattes at home vs wasting $10 at starbucks every morning. If she like it, I'll prob invest in a better machine for xmas/bday.

To anyone who bought this machine, it is not like more expensive machines that provide a consistent lower pressure and temperature. It is more of a "turbo" espresso machine and there are a few key things you need to do go get a decent tasting cup of espresso.

The most important thing is to not over-tamp the puck. The highly pressurized basket leads to additional back-pressure, and if you tamp the puck too much, it will become over-compressed and the coffee will taste terrible. You need to use a not too fine ground, and only tamp enough to flatten the puck. I have found the following brew times and dosages work well with this machine. You should end up with a flat puck that aligns with the max line, just below the rim of the basket:

1 Cup Basket - 7-8g grounds, 15s total brew time
2 Cup Basket - 14-15g grounds, 30s total brew time
