It would be better to wait a year and downgrade the card

For me i'd ask family/friends to use my card for their car insurance. If you know a few people that would let you do that, it should help with a big chunk of the 8k

How strict is this? I'm not sure I can spend $8000 solely on business-related purchases.
But then I would get charged $95 again which I'm trying to avoid .
There is a grace period once you hit the first year of 30-45 days, i wait until i get charged and then downgrade to make sure i keep the card a full year, they will refund you the $95 second year charge.
