Do not buy this monitor...I have the exact same one and it started flickering on and off after 4-5 months. Called support and they don't care about you. Put you on hold for 2 hours, tell you its your PC and not the monitor (would also try to blame the power cord, power socket, DP cable, HDMI cable - literally everything). Will lie to you and say they don't have the option to call the manager and eventually they do. So at the moment, I have a $700 monitor that I really don't have a warranty for. There's a reason they are discounting this a lot. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. It's sad, I have owned Alienware/Dell products for a while but after what I have just gone through - I will never buy another alienware/dell branded product. If someone from Dell can reach out to me I would be glad to file my formal complaint.

Edit: Yes, literally changed everything. Even reformatted PC. Used my laptop, still the same effect. Plugged in a different monitor, 0 issues (ironically a Dell monitor).

When did you deal with Dell. I too was fond of their products but my experience was so poor that it really turned me off

Thanks for saving me the trouble. Really appreciate the post
I mean, I have this monitor and have absolutely no issues. Don't let one guy who has a problem ruin it for you

Thanks for the detailed explanation, I bought the same from Amazon as refurbished or like new condition , some lower $560 , returned it after 3 days later , some weird noises after it became warmer , now using a 49 Samsung oled about 3 months , no problem yet.

Something in this story is off and not being reported. My guess is that you don't have a valid warranty for this monitor (you tried purchasing it used/refurb at a heavy discount with no valid receipt). There was a guy in another thread of this monitor that said he got his monitor exchanged like 3-4 times because when he would clean the monitor it would leave a smudge that wasn't possible to remove. I kept on telling the guy: "You are doing something wrong. What products are you cleaning with? I have this monitor and have cleaned it with a microfiber cloth once or twice and there are no permanent smudges".

I've had this monitor for about 8 months now. I've done the firmware updates that added the HDR1000, I have the monitor refresh itself just about every 4 hours as recommended by Dell. It has worked wonderfully. The monitor is stunning when running HDR for movies/video games. That's the entire point of the monitor. Games and movies.

Tempted to get this but worried about the subpixel pattern for text legibility.... I keep hearing it adds fringing to text and edges and that worries me as I play games but also use my pc for everything else like typing, reading, and research

Careful with getting this if you are planning to use it in a fairly bright room or you are use to very bright monitors. Oled monitors are fairly dim due to current tech limits.

The 1000 nit brightness is mostly a marketing scam. It can only do 1000 nits if 99% of the screen is completely black and you only light up a few dozen pixels. Real full screen brightness is only around 200 nits.

Even at 100% brightness it is still much dimmer than my ipad at 50% brightness and my lenovo duet 5 oled chromebook at 60% brightness. It's probably fine though if you mostly game in the dark or use monitors at low brightness levels.

If you bought via credit card you can dispute the transaction and state they won't honor the warranty, I asked for a replacement or a refund, dell never did anything so I got a refund

Btw it looks like you have the original model since it's on gsync, you may want to try switch monitor modes from standard to a different option to see if it helps, also make sure HDR is enabled in your os (on windows 11 I believe the toggle is win+alt+B)

So your monitor is under warranty and Dell is not replacing it? Is this correct? I had mine since November of last year and it had been flawless. If your monitor is under warranty you are supposed to RMA it.

AW3225QF would probably be the better option if your wallet allows
