The surge protection is probably 0 at this point. It goes down over time.

Bought 3 of these recently after 2 battery backups died (and the battery backup wasn't really needed). These are nice, but I've found some of the outlets are still spaced too closely together for certain types of plugs (if you have a wall wart, even if you use the side-plugs, the height of the wallwart will interfere with the 2 AC plugs in front of it. Not the case with all, but I have 2 wall plugs that interfere)

With that said, all have been working great, no issues. There are 2 versions and all I can tell from the difference are the coax and phone protectors on the end.. I have both versions and prefer the "new" version without, since these aren't really useful to me.

It can be wall-mounted, but the slot for screws is a bit too small for any I had, so you might need to use nails. The dark plastic piece at the bottom of the surge protector does come off easily if you want to remove it.

found this on the Belkin website:

The Protected light indicates that your surge protector is functioning correctly and is providing protection to the devices you have connected to it.

This light should remain ON as long as the surge protector is plugged into an outlet and is turned ON. If this light goes out at any time, it means that your surge protector has served its purpose on protecting your equipment against damaging voltage fluctuations, surges, or spikes. If this happens, your surge protector should be replaced.

1. If the protected indicator light is OFF, it may still function as a power tap but will no longer provide surge protection. This can lead to damage of your equipment once your surge protector encounters another power surge.

The protection light usually will only go off if there has been a surge that it stopped. It will not indicate the lower performance over time. General recommendation is to replace every 5 years or so
I've never seen this "general recommendation" to replace surge protectors every 5 years... especially if the unit still has a light on saying that the protection is still working. Where did you get/find this "general recommendation"?

Y'all do what you want. I have thousands of dollars in tv's and computers and I have no problem spending $20 every few years to make sure they're protected.

Over time, electronics degrade. Especially ones designed to protect other things.

Gotcha. Hope you have a whole-home surge protector too if you are so worried.

Not really a matter of being worried, more so being proactive.

Need them to put a deal on UPS batteries that took a hit after last weeks storm/power outage.
Anyone have a good deal on Cyberpower 1500va off brand batteries they've used?

These seem to be working well for my CP1500PFCLCD units... but not really a deal right now.

These protectors use Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) to clamp surges and they will degrade over time until they fail. Unfortunately these surge strips have them enclosed, frequently with anti-tamper screws, and you can't easily replace them. If you want ongoing reliable protection replace the power strip every 3-5 years or sooner if you live in an area prone to lightning or poor power infrastructure.

Is this enough to cover a gaming PC in case of an outage in the summer?

This doesn't stop outtages... only surges... and only up to a certain amount. If you have the budget then I would get a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD for your PC.

This is the best power strip I had for past 3 years.

The plug extends vertically from below instead of horizontally which helps it stays in place and not get loose over time

A bit more than I would've liked, but I would prefer to over prepared lol. As long as it gives me a minute to power down safely.

I take it I'll have to plug this directly into the wall and not through a power strip/surge protector? Sadly I have limited outlets in the room.

Yep, plug the UPS directly into a wall outlet, but the UPS should give you multiple additional outlets... some outlets with battery backup and some with just surge protection.

Sounds simple enough, are there items that shouldn't be plugged into this along with the computer? I haven't used a UPS before, so I'm assuming there's limitations.

Also assuming I can't place this on carpet? 🥴 Really appreciate you clearing all this up for me by the way.
