Between the May 16th derecho, and Hurricane Beryl, they have been getting a lot of use lately.
One of my neighbors had his Generac die about 2 hours into the derecho - undervoltage error. Unfortunately the dealer couldn't repair the unit until 4 days later - right after grid power was restored. Needless to say my neighbor was displeased.
Everyone else had positive experiences with their Generacs, however. Some neighbors were very diligent about shutting down and checking oil daily/adding as needed, while planning for a full service after the outage was over.
Overall it seems like a well-made piece of equipment, but definitely too spendy for me. I have a large portable tri-fuel generator that will run most of my house, total investment ~1/10th the cost of an installed Generac.
Runs a handful of times a year. No issues . If it blew tomorrow I'd just buy another and swap out myself since all the plumbing is there.
and can store a few hundred gallons of gasoline at .6gph. that's what these generacs are for....
I heard lots of Generac success stories right after Beryl.
Except for 1. They filled it with gas 2-3 years ago i"in preparation" but it failed. Sounds like user-error to me.
