Not available in my zip code.

This is the same outfit that let me order a new one for $100 months ago (along with the $35 plan), and then sat on the order for weeks before saying they were sold out.

I see deals like this pop up occasionally and just want to make sure I am understanding things correctly. To take advantage of this deal, you would sign up for a new line with Straight Talk and get the phone for $74. You would have to have it active for one month, which would be $35. You would cancel before the month is over, so total out of pocket would be around $110-$120.

You would then have an unactivated phone that could be used on wifi (like a mini iPad). After 60 days, the phone would become unlocked so it could be used on another carrier? Am I missing any details here? For us, the use case would be to have an unactivated phone for our child to use (for things like FaceTime and YouTube) when connected to wifi.

we recently switched from Straight Talk because there doesn't seem to be any way to get discounts on their plans anymore - used to be able to get yearly plans from eBay sellers at ~45-50% off their $45/month plans.

Yes. This might actually be a good one for my mom, but I could never have my primary phone have 64 gigabytes. Maybe if it was a secondary or a device or something, but my primary phone, even when it has 128, I get incredibly frustrated.

How to figure out if it is activated on tmobile/at&t or verizon? Because if its done with at&t/tmobile network its 12 months to unlock. As mentioned in the policy.

YMMV Every single unit is in different condition. Some may have parts replaced and out of warranty , some may near brand new with 100% battery and 9 months remaining.

All activations for their branded locked phones since Nov 2021 are Verizon (that's when VZ bought the Tracfone brands).

Have watched these threads for years, I would say 95%have been nearly new, maybe returns, or new. Some think the screen may have been replaced, but apple has not refused them for trade in, Probably not refurbished by Apple, but some approved refurbisher, many will have some months of Apple care remaining.
