Additionally, not enough testing, especially by independent 3rd parties, has been done on Tritan to know if it truly isn't leaching similar EDCs (some studies have found it does).
Lastly the article you linked explains that the amount of the chemicals leached are in extremely small quantities, and moreover did not test this specific product, just unnamed bottles/containers, and they also had no citations on how the actual study was conducted.
Basically, not enough is actually known about Tritan yet to know if it is "better". What is known is that it breaks down at fairly low temperatures. Even boiling water is enough to make it start breaking down and warping. While Aeropress does not recommend boiling water, let's be real and admit many folks probably do use boiling water when starting their press.

Tritan either doesn't have BPA or BPA derivatives so even in hot water there is no leaching of BPA/BPS.

I have both metal + paper filters. I think paper tastes better.
The inventor of the AP said he's used the same paper filter up to 80 times.
I change mine once every two weeks.
Tip for people in hot states…. 1.5 Tablespoon of Cafe Bustelo, inverted brew then press into travel mug filled with ice…. I call it The Starbuck Bird.
