No S&S and after taxes, you're still spending $10/lb. I don't know about you, but that's still expensive for whey (a byproduct from the production of cheese) for me. They used to just trash the stuff before we got all fancy with it.
Whey, a byproduct of cheese, used to be treated as a waste stream and disposed of cheaply. Because it's mostly water, whey has been used as animal feed or fertilizer. However, technological advancements in the dairy industry and research have made whey a valuable raw material that can be used to create new products. Today, about 50% of whey is processed into valuable products, while the rest is still disposed of as waste.

Anything around 10$/lb is the standard unfortunately.
Thanks. That helps. I went to look at my Amazon order history. The last time I bought protein was 2020.
Got 2x 5lbs Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard for about $6.6/lbs. That was awesome.

A huge post about a protein purchase in 2020... Very helpful.
As a useful reference, in April 10lbs of ON was $76 before tax ($77 after for me) on Amazon. So there are still good deals to be found.

Just my personal experience, this stuff doesn't dissolve very well at all no matter if I use water or milk. Taste is ok but I'm happy to have mixed my last glass of this today.

Try the iso if that's ever an option for you. I use a canning jar and water and that is gem every time. But worth the expense? I dunno, i've switched to one shake once in a while if i need a quick dose of protein, but otherwise im trying to stick with food now. We used to think getting immediate, fast digesting protein after a work out really mattered, but now we know different. I'm trying to be on caloric restriction mostly right now and probably not hitting my protein macros as closely as i should. If i was to bulk like some do, I think a shake might be easier than eating all the time. I'm just trying to spend less on processed container food. Especially at the new standard powder prices.
