No FOMO here. This is EXACTLY the same price I bought it for over a month ago. I thought to myself, oh darn, it is on sale. Let me check if I can get a refund. then I realized it was the same price, and I was outside the return window anyway. Lame prime day.

These are awesome. I use them literally every day at work (Engineering/3d Modeling).

They are accurate, and most importantly, super smooth.

Is the Neiko brand any better than the cheaper brands? Do these kill the battery when turned off (like the cheap ones)?

I've had these calipers for 7 years for very casual use, and have replaced the battery maybe like 2 times? So probably not. They're perfectly good enough, nothing fancy. Since mine are old, the battery compartment is a tiny bit loose and of you shake or just right it power cycles and forgets where you were and zeroes out, but I don't think a new pair would have that problem

If you use calipers every day buy Mitutoyo. Buy once, cry once. I've used the same 6" pair for 11 years and they still hold up fine when verified against a gauge. I even have a backup collecting dust in my lab as the main pair are so good.

Do these hold positional memory when turned off/back on?

Possible anyone has a set or has checked?

Many of the "newer" cheaper sets like this don't seem to have that functionality, and it's incredibly useful.

I also got these a month ago, (june 2) receipt says it was $16.76 so not the EXACT same price, but close enough.

just checked, and yes it held the zero for the 10 min I waited. I'm not sure if it will hold it indefinitely though.

I've not used this model but generally a digital set has a zero out function. Similar to tare on a weight scale - press to zero out. Without it it's possible to turn off after measuring 0.500", close, and turn on closed but displaying 0.500" still. Simply clean face, close, and zero. This function is handy for comparing two diameters. Measure one, zero out during measurement, then measure the 2nd item. The size difference will display.

I went through 3 replacements in a row with this set of calipers earlier this year, where all arrived dead on arrival (errors on the screen or invalid measurements).

Would this be better than a body fat scale?
