I'm still skeptical of buying TV backlights. It looks like there's a lot going on in the background when you are watching TV and could give some people headache or whatever. Can somebody change my mind? Do they really change the viewing experience?

Well, yes, the backlighting does change the viewing experience...you have lights behind the TV now. The real question is whether the lighting enhances the entertainment value of the content youre viewing.

I bought the T1 and then the T2 along with several Govee RGB bulbs (put in lamps immediately to the left and right of the TV). This expanded my viewing stage top-to-bottom and side-to-side of the wall that the TV is mounted to. This made the viewing experience more fun as the lighting is complementing the on-screen content. The additional backlighting behind the tv and off to the sides witht he additional lamps creates a more immersive view for me.

I prefer this lighting over other ambient lighting like normal lamps with white or yellow bulbs.

My OCD kicks in, though, if the T2 colors are not quite perfect and that can be distracting.

There's also another product on the market that is specifically made to provide bias lighting that can help ease the eye strain sually associated with watching your TV in a very dark room. Medialight is a very popular example of this. Its just a white light. In fact, many people, with a high degree of interest in perfecting their picture quality, will get bias lighting to mitigate the halo effects on their non-OLED displays.

Does the Dune packaging make any difference from the original backlights?

Also, Its $55.80 on Amazon with no rush shipping. Anyone tried to return items to Govee? Big hassle? Free shipping back?

From the Govee website: "Note: Dune-themed lighting effects are only available with the DUNE-themed Packaging."

Code not working for me? Says it can't be applied to either of the 75 inch models? Anyone else have the same?

There is a lot of feedback and comments about this on Slickdeals. The return process is simple with Govee and the fact that orders are integrated with the Govee app, makes things 10x easier over the long haul than buying with Amazon. You can initiate returns, ask for warranty replacements, get refunds directly in the app, etc...

Good comparison between this and the T2:

Looks like this one is the new budget entry. Sticking with my T2 for now.

I agree. I guess with gaming or something it's cool but I find background lights very distracting. I would add that if you are someone that is trying to improve your movie viewing experience with backlights it's VERY important to get a high-quality T2 or better system. If you get a cheap light strip you will see rainbows and distracting light around the TV, it also won't turn off during dark scenes. In addition, if you have a $300 cheap TV it's not going to matter much and it's just flash.

Where has this technology advanced when it comes to running it through an HDMI box instead of a camera?

I don't game on my TV and I don't use the built-in apps on my TV. But I do have a fairly nice 4k screen. Seems like HDMI would be the way to go. Anybody have any experience?
