It's heavy and it'll leave you reallly sore, but its much better than hand sanding or even using a palm sander. I used this for a large attic room with vaulted ceilings and it made things go much quicker.

You'll want to hook this up to a shop vac with a hepa filter and a bag (with no bag, the filter will clog up in half a second and the whole rig stops working almost immediately). It won't just be a little dusty without the vac you won't even be able to see.

Just return the new one in it's place? It's the same item.

No, this is for sanding drywall. If you're sanding a deck, you should probably rent one of those large belt sanders from Home Depot.

A bag around the filter? I'm getting a shopvac delivered this week and I have a 2 1/2 car garage ceiling that I need to sand.

Just replace your pressure treated wood deckboards with composite. They are not that expensive. Sander rental + stain every few years will cost you more in the long run.

Can you remove the pole and use as a palm sander for tight spaces?

Yeah, you can, but it'll take a lot longer than the heavy deck and floor sanders

Just had one put in 4 years ago and I pressure wash it for an hour in the Spring and that's it.

It gets dirty from the rain but it just turns Grey to dark Grey over the year.

Good point! Seems silly that Amazon doesn't do credit anymore but has no problem with doing this as a workaround.
