Update:
If your order is cancelled, don't bother calling Samsung support.
Agent 1: (Provided personal info and explaining I'm calling because my order was cancelled without any reason provided or communication from Samsung) We did not cancel your order, perhaps you accidentally clicked the button for a return?
Me: No, I did not do that. (We go back and forth a few more times without any progress). Can I talk to a manager?
Agent 1: They'll just tell you the same thing I did (that we didn't cancel it).
Me: That's fine, I'd like to hear that from a manager.
Agent 1: Okay, let me put you on hold while I find one.
(On hold. New agent picks up)
Agent 2: Hi how can I help you?
Me: Are you a manager?
Agent 2: No
Me: The person I just spoke to said they would get me a manager. I'd like one now please.
Agent 2: What's your (asks for personal info again, which I provide. I explain situation again).
(Put on hold)
Supervisor 1: How can I help you? I see you placed an order recently. Have you tried contacting best buy?
Me: I explain the situation again.
Supervisor 1: I'm sorry you have the wrong department.
Me: Then transfer me to the right one?
(Put on hold)
I'm currently on hold for this 2nd supervisor. I've now been on the phone for 45min. Not including the first time I called their customer service, trying to navigate the robot menu to get an Agent.
Update 2:
I just checked and like someone else mentioned, the discount is still showing on the Samsung Shop app. I was able to place a new order but this time chose to pick it up at a local Best Buy. Waiting for email to let me know I can swing by and get it. Here's hoping they have them in stock and I won't get cancelled again. (Still on hold btw).

I don't have an EDU email so not sure how I'd get the EDU discount by making a Samsung account. Not sure why you are assuming I have an item to trade in?

You don't need an EDU email. At the top where it says, "Get exclusive, extra savings with Samsung Offer Programs," clicking on that will give you an option to select and you can just click "Education Offers." That will give you the additional 15% discount.
With regard to an item to trade in, if you go back to page 31 at the bottom, va4883 commented this:
I already had an old iPad Air in home but even if you buy it from ebay it's around $30-$40 and make the A9+ to around $70
