Anyone have any gauge on how much these go for elsewhere? I'll admit I've done no homework on this and it's very much a slick deals purchase.

ive had it for like 5 years, batteries last a long time, alarm is loud, its very easy to use.

you can get wifi or bluetooth smart gadgets that will do something similar, if youre so inclined, Govee makes really low cost fridge/freezer thermometers but then you have to deal with setup, keeping the app running, etc.

Search Amazon for "AcuRite Digital Wireless Fridge and Freezer Thermometer with Alarm, Max/Min Temperature for Home and Restaurants". I use a version of that. It works but it's not 100% reliable because of needing batteries and sometimes the signal isn't 100% reliable. Not really "smart" either - no Bluetooth or WiFi but I like it.

Thanks for this link. The reviews do not look the best but might give it a shot. Our new fridge keeps getting ice stuck and I have had to defrost it twice in a year. This might help me catch the problem sooner.

Bought these exact ones through a slick deal probably four or five years ago. They've worked perfect and on at least a couple of occasions this is how I found out I had a problem with an appliance.

yeah, you listed basically all the issues that I'd like to avoid - our freezer stopped working and all the food spoiled. Batteries tend to last less in freezer. Metal walls weaken the signal. Remote alarm is a must since I'd like to be notified if the freezer/fridge went down so that I can ask someone to take a look if I'm out of town.

Gotcha... FYI for batteries, best to use the expensive non-rechargeable lithium ones especially for the freezer since they handle the cold much better, in case you were not already aware.

sure about lithium? thought lithium was the most susceptible to temp drops tho I'm not a material scientist
