Amazon has the Husqvarna model 120 16" chainsaw on sale for $183--an all-time low according to 3C. I have the larger 450 Rancher and it works very well. It's also on sale.

Generic Husqvarna Feature Commentary:
  • Husqvarna 120 16 inch chainsaw is easy to start and easy to handle, making it a valuable tool for a variety of home and garden tasks—recommended for use with bar lengths between 14 inches (min) and 18 inches (max).
  • Effortless Start-Up: Air purge system and combined choke/stop control allow for easier starting and reduce risk of engine flooding, while the gas chainsaw 16 inch blade has an inertia-activated chain brake to reduce the likelihood of injury due to kickback.
  • Superior Performance: Gas powered chainsaw delivers superior performance with an efficient 38-cc, 1.8-HP X-Torq engine that reduces emissions (up to 60%) and increases fuel efficiency (up to 20%).
  • Air Injection Technology: Chainsaws equipped with a centrifugal air cleaning system that expels larger dust and debris particles before they reach the air filter for improved engine life.
  • Easy Handling: This cordless chainsaw features LowVib technology that uses dampeners to reduce vibrations and minimize operator fatigue for easier handling of recommended 14 to 18-inch chainsaw bars.
Good luck & happy deal hunting.

Saw some videos and it looks good for smaller tasks. Would this be appropriate for getting rid of some old tree stumps? Price would be about the same for a stump grinder rental and this would be useful in the future to have once completed. Will be for home use only nothing professional.

As the owner of a 14" / 30cc Echo CS-310, I love using a little saw for what it's suited to do, but this is also a good niche for a battery powered saw. Definitely depends on your trees - while I've run the 2Ah 60V Greenworks battery dead before, I didn't have to leave the saw idling to hack away all the vines tying each branch to each other with a machete.

depends on the stumps. but i'm assuming there not small stumps if your gonna rent a stump grinder. if the stumps are more then 6 inches across then NO this would not be a good saw.
as someone else mentioned at this level I would look into a good battery powered one.

this saw is meant for limbs and small trees.

Fuel is $40-45 / gallon ouch. Though I have no idea how long runtime a gallon provides.

Dude, where are you getting your information??

It's a two-stroke... Regular gas with then you mix it with 2 stroke oil 50:1 gas/oil. The 2 stroke oil that you mix in is a couple dollars. Gas + oil more like $7 a gallon? Even if you buy 50:1 premixed locally (which I recommend, since premix can be stored longer, you can't store regular gas), a gallon of 50:1 premix is like $20 at your local tractor supply or big box store. A gallon would last you multiple full days of sawing.

Husqvarna makes a good saw and you can get parts for it so its a buy it for life too, but for those not familiar with chainsaws, this is mostly for limbing. You would want a bit more power if your looking to cutup logs for firewood or fell decent size trees. I would only get this saw if you do a LOT of limbing, like a bunch every year. Otherwise, I'd go battery saw over this so you can avoid the maintenance associated with 2-stroke engines.

Get the rancher 450 for firewood processing or felling decent size tree.

I admit I am a noob (with a battery chainsaw), and I looked up the original recommendation 50:1 2 stroke ethanol free fuel. The one I referenced was the Husquarna branded fuel at Lowe's. I understand now there are way cheaper alternatives. Thanks.

If ethanol free gas is available in your area from a station its fine and generally .50 - .75 higher and much much cheaper than premix. https://www.pure-gas.org/ DONT use ethanol gas unless you can the entire mixed amount within one month. I dont use my saw much and get 1 gallon of ethanol free gas from a local station and add 50:1 mix. I don't need to worry about how old my fuel is. I typically use 1-2 gallons per year... Never had an issue for 15 years.

Please don't buy this. Go find yourself a 440-450 rancher on the used market for this price. These lower cc saws are junk. Find a 445 in decent shape. It could cost you $200-$225 used, but it's well worth it. Throw a 20-24" bar and chain on it. You got a lifetime saw.

Also run 40:1 in these saws. If you're not up for the challenge of mixing fuel and running a carb. Spend the money and get an auto tune saw
