No. This model does not support Linksys Mesh; it is a standalone router only.
Can I use the Linksys app with the Linksys MX4300 (LN1301)?
No. This router does not support Linksys cloud services; therefore, the Linksys app is not supported.

What is strange is that it's a tri band that doesn't support native mesh network. Isn't the whole point of the 2nd 5ghz band is for mesh communication in most tri band routers?

2.4ghz supports distance but "slower".
I've been using a Netgear R6700 for a few years now, and I use its "RedaySHARE" feature for smb/ftp duties.

What is the USB port for? The USB 3.0 port is reserved for future use.

I have a mx5300. The stock firmware is pretty limited and tries to force you to make an account and use the app which is not great from a privacy standpoint.
