Honestly - this. I've owned this exact guitar for years and it's fantastic. If you go much cheaper, you will likely end up with frustrating issues like bad fretwork, poor electronic components (scratchy volume/tone knobs, etc) and if cheaper guitars don't hold value well.

This is a guitar you could easily use for the rest of your life with no/minimal modifications, and if you get tired of it you could easily sell it for this price or close to it.

Really comes down to "is rolled edges and a chambered ash body worth an extra $400 to you?"

I'd jump all over this if it had a rosewood or pau ferro fretboard. I like that contrast from the light body color.

Bruce actually plays an Esquire if we want to be technical about it.

I don't need another guitar, I don't need another guitar……

I am looking for a good, entry level guitar. Just going to be a hobby, not performing for anyone Big Grin Any recommendations?

Any modern squire would be a good choice. But keep in mind some squires are highly price so look for something sub $280

If we want to be reeeeallly technical about it, his most famous guitar is actually a modified Tele body with an Esquire neck. Kind of a neat story, too:

Yep: After the first one, every time you buy another guitar, tell your wife you're borrowing it from a friend.

Two decent options:

- Squier Sonic series - guitars go for $199 - available almost everywhere, multiple colors and pickup options
- Squier Debut Series - go for $119, available only at amazon in limited colors

Plenty of reviews of both on youtube, both series do well in reviews with regards to quality.

Is this referring to the Player Plus model?

Nice deal. +1

By the way, for those pinching every penny, Adorama has the same model in a different color (lake placid blue finish with white pickguard) for $499. Posted last month by iconian, but still valid--- https://slickdeals.net/f/17544789-fender-limited-edition-player-telecaster-electric-guitar-lake-placid-blue-499-free-s-h?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

Nah, Player II, which is why this is being clearanced. The big additions to the line are that they're bringing back rosewood and all fretboards will have rolled edges. The BSB will only be available in chambered ash for an additional $100, so $900.

If I'm being honest, for $900 I'd rather wait for a used USA tele. $520 for the player a good deal though.
