Ordered too! Upgraded 32 GB = 1260+tax, Amex has $550-$105 on Dell, so it should be $1155+tax if you have Amex offer

I'd stick with the Alienware. The 13th and 14th gen Intel may have the recent Intel CPU issues. The core ultra are a different node . . . they could hypothetically suffer the same issues depending on what's causing it but it's much less likely.

I got the Alienware for $1400 - $140 from Alienware Arena coupon + $75 tax - $105 AMEX offer - $189 cashback (it was 15% at the time). Total $1041.

The OP deal is a decent laptop if you need one now but if you can wait I feel like it's better to wait as you can usually stack a good sale with great cash back around a holiday. Should be some labor day sales if not some back-to-school ones beforehand. We will hopefully have more info about the CPU failures by then too.

Contemplating this one.. I didn't want to spend over $900 but 0% for 12 months may push me over the edge.

I bought this and the alienware. I love the keyboard. But alienware is just a better built laptop with a much smaller powerbrick. What us better with a 4070? I9 13th gen or 9 core ultra?

Raptor Lake HX woes notwithstanding, otherwise a terrific deal. DCI-P3 color gamut and Cherry MX switches are quite rare in this price range. RTX 4070, on the other hand, is more common - but there should be plenty of thermal headroom (given hard voltage limit at ~100W) compared to slimmer chassis alternatives.

FYI, The charger for this thing is massive. I ordered about a month ago for same deal and the chatger weighs about 1.5 KG (yes, I weighed it). The size is about 10 in x 4~4.5 in. As I travel international, IDK what I'm going to do about that size.

Core Ultra I9, 16gb ram, 2070, 1TB SSD. This deal basically but with 15% cashback: https://slickdeals.net/f/17623944-alienware-m16-r2-laptops-16-qhd-240hz-intel-ultra-9-185h-rtx-4070-16gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-w-sign-up-code-1259-99?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

Downside is screen isn't as bright and you don't get the mechanical keyboard.

I purchased (and returned) the one from the last deal but with 32gb. Few things of note, the charger is MASSIVE, as noted earlier. The quantum white, which kind of looks silver in the pictures, is for the most part white plastic. Doesn't look anything like silver in person. The trackpad feels very cheap, not even close to the level that Macbooks had 10 years ago. Mine, also seemed defective (right side would click at the slightest of touches). Last thing, it was also quite loud, even at boot up my wife asked if the neighbors were doing something since she didn't know where the sound was coming from.

The specs are solid for the price, but just know you might be giving up in some other areas.
