I have a similar one (got from Costco several months ago). Yes 2.5 pounds. The only things I don't like: gets really hot really quick, battery life sucks, keyboard not the best IMHO. But can't beat the design, screen, weight -to-size ratio at this price point. 2 year Allstate warrantee definitely helps, especially at less than $500.. great deal IMHO

The eBay listing states this to have an IPS display but that's wrong as this model only comes with an OLED display and that's also stated in the official spec sheet by Acer: https://www.acer.com/us-en/suppor...01/details

I went through a lengthy review that compared the two models against each other and most functional stats ended up neck and neck and the higher screen res of the "older" model and the longer battery life of the "older" made me go with this model instead of waiting for the more powerful processor to possibly go on sale. I'm going to run tests and battery run time to see how the refurb performs.

This is an insane deal - I bought a brand new of this exact model back in December and have since sold my LG Gram pro because this was better in almost every way for a lightweight laptop.

The BQ is solid for the crazy light weight, the screen is fantastic, and the fan and heat are pretty minor issues when the laptop is unplugged. The fan goes a bit more plugged, but that can also be tweaked in fan settings.

The ONE thing I don't like is the low-travel keyboard. The LG had much better tactile feedback but this Acer has a nice MacBook style layout omitting the number pad.

It's been a fantastic device for me. As someone who has owned and loved many LG Grams, it's crazy how well this competes at such low prices.

I own this computer. I suspect they're refurbished because they have a lot of issues with them. Not the best build quality. That's why 2.58 pounds.
Can you please elaborate on the build quality and issues

Is it a good laptop for writing? I sometimes read and type on my laptop for hours (like 7-8 hours straight [almost]).

If the AMD version has heat problems and everything else is the same it won't matter that the 13700H is more powerful because the cooling system is just going to leave it throttled all to hell. Which is how you get a sub 3 lb laptop with that class of CPU in it, you skimp on the heavy ass copper plates.
They arent identical systems. I checked and the Intel version has a better cooling system, with double the heatpipes leading to a larger array of cooler fins. The Intel one has a bigger battery too, different screen, etc. So there are quite a few difference between the models.

Both are good at these prices, but the Intel system was the better buy.

I do a lot of writing and it's OK but not great. Very low travel. I prefer the LG Gram's better travel by comparison in this class - but I do like the lack of number pad. If you Iike to write or work on the go like I do - go to coffee shops, etc it's worth it because of the weight and excellent screen - if you're ok with a very low travel keyboard. It reminds me a bit of the Samsung Galaxy book keyboards.

I think you are rolling the dice on whether you are going to receive OLED or IPS. There are just as many ACER listings specifying IPS.

A few notes about my experience with Acer Refurbs on ebay:
(1) Laptop started booting with blue screen stop codes right after the 30 day mark
(2) Acer will repair it during the first year, but you have to pay shipping and package it up on your own. If you are thinking about buying this for a college student going away, this is problematic.
(3) 1 year and 6 months later, blue screen errors started again. We tried to make a claim but Allstate said the plan was closed. Further investigation suggested that I closed the plan. I requested an investigation (why would I close a free plan? lol lol lol). Ebay took no responsibility. In a week or so, the plan mysteriously showed up on the account....of course it did.
(4) Taking advantage of the plan, I sent the laptop in for repair.
The good: The front corner had hooked on to something (like the wire on a notebook in the school bag) and cracked off (a 1inch wide piece). Not an issue in the return. I thought it would have disqualified a repair.

The bad: a few of the keys were super lose and falling off while i was on the phone with customer service. Initially they denied the claim for the keys for no reason, but they did back down. The first time, it took 18-20 days to return to me and they only reloaded the O/S....on first bootup after repair, I received the same blue screen errors. Sent it back. Arrived back for the second time of repairs (again just an OS reinstall and they check the connections). On first bootup, back-to-back blue screen stop codes. tts going back again for a 3rd time for repair. I think its a hardware issue and its too cost prohibitive for them to replace the motherboard. I'll keep playing the game until they give me my money back.

That original price is sus for a laptop with integrated graphics! That price you can get a strong gaming laptop and this one will barely run Minecraft.

The centered touchpad is nice, it's hard to find centered touchpads in laptops at 15in and up.

There is no dice rolling. I ordered this a few days before the deal went front page (I left on a trip and forgot to post the price drop). It has an OLED screen.

Yes. Touchpad is peeling. Paint is peeling from corners. Build is rather flimsy. Screen and performance is good but I wouldn't but again
