No, not a single one of us was thinking that about "Craftsman 10pc metric hex key sets".

As a landlord, I take care of several houses and I've never used a metric tool on anything in or on a house (except for a car or bike in my own garage). Building materials, plumbing, electrical, hvac, appliances, etc., it's all been SAE.

I'd love it if everything was metric, but that is not the reality that I live in.

Not if you're wrenching away on grandpappy's old rust bucket in the land of Eagle and Freedum!

But for literally the rest of the world that uses metric, absolutely useful.

Did anyone else think this was RAM for a second? My front page is littered with PC parts 😅

Does one need both SAE and Metric Allen keys or will the metric key suffice?

Generally speaking:
Household stuff: SAE
Car or bike: Metric
They are not interchangeable.

placed order for pickup, definitely will be better than the portable multi-hex tool I've currently got for working on my bike

It is often possible to use the closest equivalent key from the other set but it will be a very frustrating experience and you are at high risk of damaging the bolthead.

The 20-piece set with both metric and standard is on sale for $15. Not quite as good a deal but probably better if you don't have standard already:

That's a ball end hex set, which also justifies the higher price a bit. I really prefer them, personally.

Maybe for the 5/32" to 4mm and 5/16" to 8mm, but for how cheap hex keys are why risk rounding something out by using the wrong tool?

Why is the ball end hex set better? Thanks!

Ball end allows you to access the bolt at an angle, but with a significant risk of stripping it if it's tight. I always opt for the regular end ones if it's possible to fit them where they need to go.
