I have an older version of this machine that uses molds. It definitely is as close as you can get to real hawaiian shaved ice besides owning one of those japanese machines that cost thousands. On a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 is true hawaiian shaved ice from hawaii, the machine is an 8.5/10
However, I recently switched to the "snowie" b/c while the shaved ice machine is great, the molds are not convenient if you don't plan ahead and then your limited to those molds. the snowie uses regular ice cubes from your freezer and is super quick to use. I'd rank it a 7.5/10 in terms of shaved ice output, but it ia a 10/10 on convenience.
