Would it be weird or uncomfortable to use these as gym shoes? The bottoms don't look too textured..

I bought for golf but am concerned they look too much like gym shoes....

Thanks! I was looking for some golf shoes for around $50 but most of them look like dad shoes. These are cool!

I've golfed in these and the texture on the bottom seemed good enough without true spikes

I read through a bunch of the reviews and around 30% of people were non golfers and bought them for looks alone to wear for other activities , so they'd be fine for the gym.

A few reviewers said that the waterproof upper makes them more stiff than regular trainers so that would be the trade off.

I have multiple pairs of Nike Air Max golf shoes.

For golf they are excellent. Unless you are playing in very wet conditions these will perform nearly as well as spiked.

Don't buy these as gym or casual shoes. They are stiffer, have a harder sole, and do not have good tread for walking on pavement.

If you buy these, I do recommend getting a waterproofing product to cover them with. After doing that I've been able to machine wash mine (even white pairs) and get all but the white mesh to look brand new with some Oxyclean white revive.
