The employee checked open boxes for me. He got one that said excellent however, when he opened it, there were scuffs, so he downgraded it to fair condition. Final price $402 plus tax.

TD.

The 16gb version of this was the same price a couple weeks ago. I would not pay $400 let alone 500 for 8gb laptop.

It's ~$25 to get an 8gb chip from Crucial and to upgrade this to 16gb.

So, it's actually a similar but different laptop. I would take the other laptop with FHD+ vs FHD screen with 16gb already on board any day. If you missed the other deal, just wait, it will probably come back. At 500, this is not a good price for the specs.

The same basic laptop but with a more powerful Ryzen processor and twice the RAM was this price last week. I'd wait for that deal to come back.

just to inform.. my experience with HP Envy laptop. couple of years back bought the HP Envy with 16 GB and 256 SSD, as per manual, SSD is user upgradable, so though 256 GB is not sufficient i just bought it as its best price that time.
when i try to open the back panel, its was not easy and my laptop screws were metal but casing (where the screws goes in) is the plastic. so when i try to open one of the casing was broken and can not fit back properly. now my HP Envy is like desktop CPU, as back panel cant fit/fix with screws.

I had several Lenovo thinkpads before and never had this type of issues, upgraded RAM/SSD with ease.but HP Envy is not like that. So letting you know before you thinking of opening back panel for any upgrades.
