One of the most elite/premium brands in biking. Their higher end Dogma racing frames won five Tours de France in a row through 2019, pre-Pogacar (who's on Colnagos). The F5 is their mainstream frame, layup is heavier than the top frames. Same as Trek SL and Specialized Pro are shaped same as but heavier than SLR or SWorks.

That said, at this price I'd go for the Felt bikes that Wheel and Sprocket is clearing out. Can get Ultegra and entry level carbon wheels there for the same price as these demos. They'll ride better than the F5 on allow Fulcrums.

I think for a 1st time road bike you should go try out some different brands in person. Spending this amount of money on a first is quite high. It also depends on your riding needs, touring vs speed. Lots of road bikes under $2000 that can give great results for first time riders. Might I dare say under $1000 even.

Purchased in impulse grey, thank you! Coming from a 2013 Specialized Roubaix Expert I'm beyond ecstatic to ride this thing. I do a few century rides and about 3-4k miles a year so this will definitely get put to use and worth the $ for me. Will eventually upgrade the wheels to carbon.

Gave it a TU, really nice build for this price point. Just note, that it's over 19 lbs, so it's light, but not REALLY light. Btw, that 105 RD, anyone else notice it looks like a mountain bike RD with that extra long jockey wheel cage length? Also, Excel has a screaming deal on a Pinarello Dogma with SRAM RED for $8k, regular price is $14.5K, and it's only slightly over 15 lbs. Unfortunately, only in 50cm size.

No, buy a used bike much cheaper and see if you like it.
