Ordered 2 pairs for my wife last year. Both were defective. There's no way I buy something from these people that is final sale.
And they were some of the more premium leathers/models.
I've always wanted a pair after my girlfriend spoke so highly of them. Unfortunately they don't have the wide sizes in stock but this still seems like a great price.
The Birko-flor and Burkibuc uppers don't stay pretty *quite* as long as leather, but are otherwise excellent. Comfortable and hold up practically speaking (you can wear them for years and years).
Note that the footbed for these are usually still real leather suede.
If they say "vegan", the footbed has a fake suede that isn't bad, but does degrade (kinda breaks up at the edges) faster than real suede. I buy on sale, but prefer real suede footbed's with synthetic uppers.
I've been wearing birks almost daily for over thirty years, and have switched exclusively to synthetic *uppers* unless there's a great deal on leather. Cheaper and still last longer than the footbeds' cushion do. (Yes, the cushioning degrades after a few years.)

I remember back in the days when Birkenstock. Arizona Jean company have a copycat of these sandals. I couldn't afford Birkenstock brand so I bought a pair of the Arizona Jean Company sandals from JC Penny. That pair didn't last long. Until I got older and had a job. I finally purchased two pairs of Birkenstock. The first pair from Birkenstock Arizona were worn down to nothing. The wavy pattern bottom black soles were totally disintegrated. I still have an old school Birkenstock that has a back strap for support to keep them from falling off my feet. The soles are still hard as a rock.
Same!
My newest birkenstock with a Backstrap has lasted a year. My old, old, ones, are still going strong. (Different colors)
I have two pairs of these with birkoflor. One I wear as slippers in the house only. Going strong 3+ years on the sole, but the plastic is cracking. The other pair is worn strictly for church once a week. 3+ years strong.

Wow. That has to be one of the worst policies I've ever seen, especially from a quality manufacturer. I can completely understand a no return/no exchange policy -- but NOT no exception for defect. That's just not ok. On principle alone I'm not going through with this purchase. An average joe selling a pair on eBAY is held to a higher standard than this (and actually much worse for the seller).

You can always pay with PayPal and file a claim if you receive a defective pair.

They have really gone downhill since LVMH bought them.

I hate to do it, but that's a solid idea. According to PayPal policy the seller's policy cannot overrule PayPals not as described policy. Considering. Could be fun 😂

Credit card chargeback as a last resort?

Would prefer using PayPal's, but yeah. Also, I figure likelihood of defect is low, but the policy is just garbage. I've never once done a CC chargeback. I have done claims, even with PayPal, but they were also through eBAY (when they used PayPal) and very simple.

PS. Anyone else's anti-virus protection warning against the SD portal through to birkenstock.com?

The all-plastic sandals are, imo, crap.
