actual question. who is buying the mbp m3 with 8GB of ram. the only way i see that making sense if apple bumped the airs to around $599 for base.. and then had these fake mbp's at around $899 base m3 8/512. at 1500~.. it makes absolutely no sense.. when you can buy the m3pro that has two fans, 2GB more ram, more mem bandwidth, for $100~ more when on sale. ya u lose the 512GB of ssd, but w/e. is it just the ignorant who don't know better?

does apple imply that PRO users only need 8GB of ram? like 99.99% of all users? (and gutted mem bandwidth)

With the new Apple intelligence release in the next MacOS, 8GB will never be enough to run any decent AI model on local machine. Most current models require 8GB just to load the model, and the ones that require 4GB are not good enough. If running local AI, especially on your personal/professional documents and files, is a priority, I'd stay away from 8GB. I bought a refurb M1Pro last month and it outperforms the M3 non pro on several benchmarks.

I'm a Mac user here, and some Apple products are just pure, silly, landfilled products. CPU power is more than enough, but RAM and storage will make a difference in how long the product will serve you. I would not buy an opened box with 8gig of RAM for $1410. 8 Gig of RAM has no business in a Pro line. With Macbook, get the highest end or get the Air. I have the M1 with 32gig, and it works great. I cannot imagine working on an 8gig.
This…I refuse to even use 16gb of ram. Too close for comfort. 32gb or above is great. I have 64gb in my M1 Max just in case I have to stretch it.

This fits the following:

- Those who want 14 inches, as 13 can be "small"
- Those who want a fan. Typing directly on an air can get a bit "hot to the palms" as there's not a fan inside of it (currently typing on one)
- Those want the ports like an HDMI

This model is that fun way to appease the Apple users who THINK they're a pro but aren't....and to also appease those who actually compared an Air vs Pro and went "...but I want to just plug in an HDMI cable into the HDMI port! Smilie

Open box means people ordered these, opened the box and then returned these laptops because they watched the benchmarks on YouTube that showed that the M3 Pro chips are seriously hobbled by 8 GB of ram. 8GB is fine for a Macbook Air Facebook Machine but not for an M3 Pro. This product is total e-waste.

I only buy from apple for laptops but this is so dumb lol 8gb ram for $1410

macs use ram much more efficiently than their counterparts but at this price that's insulting

HDMI port. I usually walk out the house without a bag and therefore no dongle. Only need the cheapest model for light duty task but HDMI is a must. Air's don't have it or the SD card slot.
Apple says you don't any of that so fall in line. Or get an X1 Carbon with all that and use as a coffee tray while you leave the house while on the phone like I do.

Did Apple actually make a MacBook PRO with 8GB of RAM? Who is buying this? How does this make sense when they have the MacBook Air for that consumer??? 🤦🏾

$1299 at BestBuy, seems to be lowest price ever on this base M3. Not interested, but FYI.
