Ugh. I need a fan for my bedroom over my bed. That's too low
Use a Sawzall and cut the downrod to the length you want and drill two new holes for the pin. I did this on three of my bedroom fans and came out great.

Man tempted. Have 2 original to the house fans from 1996 that I think on their last legs. Light doesn't matter to me the ones now don't have lights anyways.
Replace those asap, I was in the same boat as u, I replaced all the original ones in my house, 3 upstairs, 1 in the kitchen, oh boy, they are quieter, and way more efficient, plus they move way more air. Just do it?!!,.,

Wish the 72 inch one was black or silver color and would've pulled the trigger.

Same here! Sometimes I'll wake up and the Fanimation light will be on, the fan on low, the fan on full blast, or anything in between. It has a mind of its own.
Have a fanimation with the same remote too. The remote is very frustrating and usually takes multiple button presses before responding but at least doesn't turn on/off on its own lol. Maybe you have some interference from a neighbor and need to reset the dip switches and reprogram it.

I thought it could be that, but have been too lazy to climb up the ladder to the vaulted ceiling. Haha.

If it's the same fan I have, there are no dip switches to change in the fan. They are only in the remote. The fan learns and syncs with what you set on the remote when you go through the update process.

Unless there's been some radical change in electrical motor technology, more efficient? Show me when - where - how.
Move more air? Moving more air means either higher speed, or, larger/longer blades. Either way costs MORE energy. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch

Where do I get the downrod deal?

Do I have to get the Westinghouse brand downrod or any brand as long as it's 3/4-inch ID (what does ID means?)?
