Speaking to Anaheim location but odds are, most locations are like this now.
The rate calendar is gone. Why? Well...
...No longer do rooms come with passes by default. Room rates are now split into 2 buckets. The Room with access to everything BUT the waterpark. And, the way it's been since inception (room+passes)
When you select a date range, the results list the NO WATERPASS rate, so you'll see rooms as cheap as $80, but when you click to continue, you're presented with the 2 options above and now that $80 room is $140 w/ passes (when often, it'd be $99 for mid-week, non-holiday/break).
Then there's the resort fee of course - I didn't follow the purchase flow deep enough to see if it increased as well (nor is it listed up front before payment info anymore)
Parking is now $35 A NIGHT, at Anaheim.
As much as we love to go - the barrier to entry is going up. We spend a lot on everything else to do, eat and drink there. Easily 2-3 times what we spend to stay (we always stay 2 nights). I'll bet most people do too. But damn... $35 to park? Does Disneyland even charge that yet?!
Did a trip here recently with the kids - only issue was we booked 1 night when I should have booked 2.

This is the experience my family had at Great Wolf in Houston, so can't comment on what it's like in other states. Hopefully it's not the same.
Edit: For everyone that keeps replying, I already corrected myself that it was Dallas, not Houston. My family is from Houston, I just assumed they were talking about a location here since they live here. This was during a road trip years back.
Also, I'm not saying to avoid going, I just shared what I heard from my family about their experience. You should go for yourself and see how you like it.

Saw that a couple of weeks ago and forgot to turn off my deal alert. Saw this post and it reminded me of the article.
